Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Thanks for the links and photos James. I think both Saúl and I thought you were talking about the Havok.
As to access, there is a hatch over the engine compartment on the rear.

The pods are also such that they can go on either side.

I had known about this variant for years (from the 80's when I was really into collecting VW's)
Imagine my surprise several years ago when these photo showed up. It is definitely original except for the engine. Too many little things all over confirm that it is what it is supposed to be.
oh dear, now that takes the word "Kübelwagen" really to the next level.

For those not knowing, the german word "Kübel" translates into bucket. in the 1930ies it was used for a more dirty bucket a latrine bucket. Nowadays it would be used as a plant bucket. But then there is also a verb "kübeln" which has the meaning of pouring something. In a more dirty meaning it would mean to vomit. - So, now put this all together and the word "Kübelwagen" gets a quite different meaning, not? :)

@Rhino, I may hit you up on some knowledge. My last resin casting was decades ago to finish up the GALLON of polyester resin (crap) which I did without vacuum assistance.

I bought this for my A-20G-1-DO conversion as I didn't want to junk a kit. I only need to make one solid nose which will also act as the weight to keep the model from being a tail sitter. I have the Legos to create the mold box. The clear resin for the wingtips (no details so I went with an extremely cheap epoxy resin) but would like my nose to have minimal shrinkage (I hated how I had to create masters approximately 5% larger due to shrinkage depending on the mass).

What resin would you recommend? Polyurethane? If so, any specific brand to create one nose?

Clear resin was half off clearance at Michael's and I also had rewards so, free! Best of all, I created a Valentine's heart for the Mrs.

I use Smooth-On Smooth Cast 320, 2-part liquid polyurethane plastic. I buy it from Reynolds Materials. My mold RTV is MoldMax 10.
I use 60 psi in a pressure pot to insure both are void/bubble-free.

Hey, do you want to send me the solid part/parts you want molded, and I'll make the mold for you? I could cast a couple as well.
If you make atmospheric (unpressurized) castings from a pressure treated mold, the mold it works just fine. The reverse is not true.
I would be happy to assist!

That being said, Tin-cure RTV is the same composition as I use. There isn't a thing wrong with what you have here.

I would love that but I only need one nose... You might want to keep the mold as it will be the only way for modelers, with the AMT kit (as I refuse to pay $100+ for the HK Models release as @jeaton01 predicted), to build an A-20G earlier than the A-20G-20-DO. Anyone who asks me can be sent to TLAR.

Since I don't need much resin, let me see what I can find...

I would use a plastic cup as a mold box. Cheap, easy & sacrificial! After I filled it with plasticene clay, I would also make a short pedestal (another lump of clay) for the G Nose, to preserve the mating surfaces.

I respect intellectual property. "Shameless Copies" cain't be legally sold. I am NOT Chinese!

Do people not often offer you a Model Favor? I just opened a new Moldmax 10 and I'm getting ready to pour RTV on several projects.

You may refer to Moonpuppy, errains and Helios for character references, if you wish.
