Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Oooh...the "Royal" edition. I got the premium edition, thinking I didn't need the alum barrel, but then ordered it later.

Lot's of neat stuff in those combo packs...and a good savings too!!

Tom

Yeah. Best thing is I got it for $60 . Best deal anywhere. Ebay can be so good sometimes.
James

Yes Ebay can, and yes be carefull. But the last couple of weeks have been good to me there.

Got my last kit in of my recent big buy---

flak_38.JPG

with this I now have what I'll call a nice representation of German ground based (no wheels) Flak guns- the 88, this ^ and the flakvierling will look nice together as they menace my shrinking shelf! I also scored the Eduard set for the Flakveirling on evil bay for $14.50- just got confirmation that it was shipped today!

Nice little set up here, it comes with a PE shield and the discharge basket and sights! Thankfully NO crew!

I used a 50% off coupon at Michael's Craft Stores to get Hubert this:

There were also three packages waiting for me so those I shall post later.

A classic B-25 kit.

I built my first B-25 sometime around 1967-68... it cost $1.99... (y)

Of course, paint was five to ten cents too.... :yipee

I vaguely remember those days. You could buy a kit for $ .99 or if you wanted something fancy $ 1.49 certainly bought it. That was about the same time those strange and very large animals disappeared.

B-25's might still have been in service . :pilot

Actually, I think they were still in service through the mid to late 70's in some smaller countries. :snoopy

I know I jumped from a C-47 that was made in 1940, very scary!

I don't even want to think of when it had last been inspected or how many hours were on those engines! :D

I used to go to the Woolworth's (a nickel & dime store) with my $1 allowance (lots of money back then). I would buy my ESCI/Aurora 1/72nd scale armor kit for $0.88 which, after taxes, had a nickel coin left over for the candy machine so I had the energy to run the 15 minutes home!

I sure wish MRC, who now owns Accurate Miniatures, funds the molds for later versions of the Mitchell.

Another large envelope came...

So, I still have a small box from China, a larger one from Hong Kong, and one from Archer Fine Transfers to post.

Regards,

All my time collecting comics led me to forgo the monthly titles and buy the trades and the hardcovers that reprinted the classics and not so classic titles, this is expensive at times of course but a bit frugal..I now have over 70 of those.

But those nuts and bolt books are just plain to expensive for me to even begin to think of begining a new shelf in my humble library! Cudos to you Saul, ten titles are what? near $500? maybe one day... :mpup

Yes, they are expensive. However, they (along with the Panzer Tracts and Panzer Wrecks titles) are worth it due to the consistently high quality.

Wish mine would get here. But unfortunately it seems to take an extra 2 to 4 weeks after everyone else for the
Nuts and Bolts to get here. Bought mine in October.
KD these books are well worth every penny.
James

Chukw, that is a cool aircraft! I still have the Goffy detail set for the Italeri kit but forgot that I gave that model away... anyway, look at one of the ET Model wheel sets I got.

OK, time for show-n-tell!

I got my kits at Rexall & Gray's Drug Stores... and later at a local hardware store... B)

I didn't know there were "hobby" shops until I was in 6th grade... :popcorn

Quite a haul you got there Saul... (no alliteration intended)... I look at those track sets and just shiver... glad I build airplanes ;)

Woolworths... Plattsburgh had one when I was a tyke...along with a Grand Way ;)

Saúl...seeing your posts in this thread is almost as good as getting the packages ourselves...almost! ;)
