Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Got the new Grant during a sale at Sprue Brothers as well as some extras. I cant help but be annoyed at the instructions for the Grant. They are so tiny it isnt funny. Will need optivisors just to read them let alone build it.

I finally took a few minutes and looked up what the difference was between Lee and Grant tanks. Basically it's the upper turret? They always looked alike to me and still there isn't much difference it seems.

Yeah Brit turrets bigger for the radio gear. Otherwise almost the same. Always like the Grant shape vice the Lee.

Right primarily the turret. Brits wanted and had the radio moved from the hull to the rear of the turret and thus needed a bigger turret. Another major difference is the heights of the two rear deck stowage boxes. One the Grant the left box is about the same height as the top of the hull where they turret sits.

Have been eyeballing this kit for quite a while. Finally took the plunge and got it from an ebay purchase.

It has a sharkmouth set of markings for Saul, but I am going to get a set of Ukrainian markings and do it up in digital.

While it is the best Frogfoot out there, be ready for some work (only if you wish to as few people will know what to look for). I gathered some references in the hopes of having another company release it in a smaller scale.

I need a smaller scale:

Let me pull mine out and I can tell you what upgrades I got for it if you are interested. Its been popping into my mind the past number of months but not enough to pull out and look at it. Maybe this is an omen lol.

I would be interested in seeing what all you picked up for yours. Like I said, I have been pondering on getting this for several years and finally just went for it. I did find some resin tires (on Ebay in the Ukraine) Hate Trumpy's rubber tires.

I know there are some Aires upgrades as well as a decent BigEd set. Was going to start with those.

OK got the upload problem figured (I think).
Here are the 2 shark mouth schemes that come with the kit Saul.

Then today I got this from Squadron. I am NOT happy with them. The Explanation will follow.

Aq-224.jpg

So why am I ticked at Squadron? I passed up a sale from Sprue Bros on this backordered item that was SUPPOSEDLY IN STOCK! The pictures 'splain it all.

Sprue Bros now has this item "IN STOCK" for about the same price. Probably will not be ordering much from Squadron due to this crap. Oh, and I did call up and cancelled the back order on the B-25J BigEd set. Rather than listen to why I was rather ticked off the little twitt had to keep trying to justify and explain that the "Special Order" in the title meant they had to order it. (like I had not already figured THAT out)

All the way around not a pleasing experience and I won't be looking at their website for products anymore.

I don't think Squadron's system is as real time as Spruebros.

Nope, my guess is their system fits more in the FUBAR category. I will not be messing with them in the future.

Sprue Brothers and Lots-of-Models both seem to have mastered keeping up with their inventory. Free Time also seems to keep up with what they have and what is going on. There are a couple of others that seem to be up to snuff, but this is the first time in a very long time I have bothered to look at Squadron and I was not impressed. I have received stuff from California faster than the first shipment from SQ.

Happy birthday indeed! Those Tamiya bikes are fun to build. Looking forward to hearing more on the Panther.

The Panther looks pretty good in the box. Molded in primer red, metal barrel, photo etch, individual track links, etc...etc. More on it later.

At the risk of being redundant, Happy Birthday again Terry!

I saw that Meng Panther last week at Chris Merseal's (CRM) hobby shop while in St. Louis for a visit. It is sweet!

I also love motorcycles!

Have fun!

Thanks!

I've never done a Tamiya motorcycle. It looks interesting.
