Drove down to Burlington to pay a visit to the LHS downtown. I haven't been there in a while since moving up to Bellingham, but I remembered them having a decent selection of kits. I was primarily going down to potentially look for another kit to bash w/ my '65 GT350. As I pull up front I'm greeted w/ a "For Lease" sign in the front window. hmy: Decided to see if they were still open or not, which they were. The shop was pretty sparse for what was left on the shelves. Turns out the owner has made the decision to retire, after running the business for 33 years. I was a little relieved that it wasn't due solely to lack of business. Needless to say, there wasn't any kits left on the shelves, so I decided to go poke around the paint rack. Figured at $1 a bottle I'd grab a dozen or so. While I'm browsing the rack and selectively choosing paints she comes by and says "Just fill up your basket. Most of the popular stuff has already been taken, and all this needs to find a home by the end of the month." So I grabbed pretty much one of every color that was left. Figured even if I could get the stuff for $50-60 it would be a good deal. Put the basket on the counter. "$10." What? Did I hear that right. Yep, she said $10. I told her to make it $25. "You know I will." she chuckled. Told her to do it. If I had a problem w/ $25 for all that, I needed to be shot.



So I cashed out, and said my farewells and wishes for a well deserved retirement. Going to miss having that shop around, but at least it's closure was for the right reasons. I ended up not getting what I was actually looking for, but made out pretty well nonetheless.

Good deal. Bummer about them closing, but eventually a person just has to step back and enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Meanwhile a care package arrived from Saul. Cant say thank you enough.

And I splurged on some new tools. They arrived today also. A Micrometer and a Dial Caliper.

Oh and there are two barrels that are tankless so I guess I will be shopping some more :evil:
I believe the Leo barrel is part of the prize for the SPG campaign.

Sad about the LHS, but retirement is beautiful for sure. Great deal on the paints- now you can paint the XXXX the color you have never dreamed of before :yipee

jknaus Cool tools, I had to get the digital calipers, never could figure out the dials-oh well sad for me good for you :v

Note the gun barrel in the box, at the bottom, to go with the MBT Pot Sweetener (Meng Lepoard 2A4), I thought it would be easier to keep them together in one box.

Also, I have no problem if something isn't needed and you 'pay it forward' as I know you've been doing. If Maus is helping you (by painting), please PM me with what his interests are so I can send out something, if I have it.

While I have been selling off kits to pay for new purchases, I am still overflowing in model kit abundance.

New book came in and it deserves a review because it is different and I really like it!

I received my Box of goodies'

Inside was the Jimmy Flintstone Willy's Cab over Cab resin masterpiece & the vertical grille

My Battle Taxi Kit, I put it on the shelf to see if it will sell, on of my 1st Meng's

I received my distributers kits These engine detail parts are all Mike's fault

My heater hoses, I have experience in these, as a young lad we carried a length of both sizes in the truck

I also had to have these items, the 5/8 hose on the left is for the smaller Heater hose, it also is used for the plug boot for the ignition wires on the right

Some stuff for Christine ........... :woohoo:

Some very sharp x-Acto #11's (These do Go eleven)

A wire bending tool, this will come in very handy

Some Kadee coupler trip pin pliers for adjusting the angle of the dangle

Something for my T-64, which is waiting paint, it's been a little humid here in Texas

Some tool boxes, a couple of 64 1/2 Mustang convertible's I'd show ya'll a picture but I barely put a price tag on them before they were gone.

Some file sets and a back saw also sold already. Guys I just picked Up a Old guy, Ex Ford Mechanic, about 80 or better who has become my new pest customer, old modelers never die - they just build on :dude
