Well this is a first...

Got the mail today and there was a package from Squadron...it was a book- which made me a bit nervous as I hadn't ordered any books ;). But they basically sent me the hardcover PBY Catalina in Action book as a gift for being a good customer....I might actually already have one of these in softcover...need to check that...

That's how I got that F8F Bearcat book.

Ian got something very cool in the mail today. Ian has a cousin, Aaron Loup, that pitches for the Toronto Blue Jays in the Major League. I sent in a photo and a letter from Ian and the photo came back today autographed and with a note from Aaron on the back. Thanks to James, jknaus, for sending the Canadian postage for the SASE.

I've been in the market for another 1/48th TA-4J.
This one was hovering around in a repeat F/S post, at a paltry US$25.
For a lark I pulled trigger on the good ol' Revell-o-gram 1/48th F-14B, too, at $25. Double-up saved on S&H, and I've always wanted to see inside the Rev=o=gram F-14 kit.

Oddly, I wasn't aware this was the -B model til I saw the box. (You call it "plastic-fondling", I call it "performing pragmatic checks".)
It has 'early' and 'late' options for the for'd port fuselage, gun-gas ports.
The GE cans are multi-piece assembly. Kit is missing decals but VF-11 or VF-32 aren't priority markings.
I've had a hankering for a VF-84 scheme for years.

Chap had cut the price because the TA-4J is missing some resin. The full kit is regularly US$45 and upwards, some auctions see it easily reach US$80.

Why do I point this out? Splitting total cost makes each kit $ biscuit under $42. Incl S&H. Bought singly I'd be looking at &45 for the TA-4J alone. $25+ for the F-14. And $30+ S&H for each.
No matter which way I spin the cost, in NZ$ (or, what we like to call "South Pacific Pesos") I'm rather chuffed.

Natch, I shall be looking out for appropriate resin and PE thru the year . . .

My cousin Richie Bordi played major league ball back in the late 70s and 80s. Last I heard, he's still a talent scout for the Padres... B)

GO Jays!
:ro:

What a nice gesture. I saw the Jays play in Toronto once, against Detroit. I'd been travelling across from BC and fetched up for two weeks in TO.

More importantly, I saw the Lanc on her pylon in the park.

They're offering a huge selection of books for $3 a title, including $35 HBs. It's really tempting not to grab a bunch, but I need to conserve shelf space at this point.

Speaking of MiG-23, the missing set from Ciro Models came in. See below.

I bought two of these MiG-23 replacement sets (intakes, lower air brakes, replacement cnopy) but only one was in the box. I hope the oversight is corrected immediately:

All is great and I can recommend Ciro Models wholeheartedly!

I also got in the Rye Field Model Tiger I for a look see. It was sent to me for my opinion (I guess a nice way to ask me to review it so, I will).

Click for a look in the box...
