Nice little pile there Paul! I picked up a few things as well, An old Monogram p-47 and a set of PE hinges from Royal Models.

And THIS... This came inside the Shilka's box. A conversion set for a KT-72?

Here it is in all its pieces...

I know what a T-72 is, but have never heard of the KT variant. The conversion set is in a rather heavy green resin, pretty rough in places though the detail looks decent.

I have no idea what it really is as it was just in the box when i bought it on evil B. Any help is greatly appreciated, but I'm building this kit as the Shilka! Thanks CR

That Shilka is a great kit.

The resin subject isn't KT-72, it is the product number from AEF Designs for their ASU-85 conversion.

That looks like an AEF ASU-85 conversion. Trumpeter has just released the kit.

Thought about getting this kit and displaying it at my work. Looks like it has some nice accurate detail!

My Daughter has had a love affair with sharks for ever. Was going to become a marine biologist at one point. Hope she will like this. Maybe I could tap you for some links to good shark refs??

I consider myself spanked.

Spanked?
:blink

I'm not kinky like that...

Yesterday two packages arrived. In one was a replacement Tankograd book:
Tyagatshi-01.jpg

The need for replacement occurred during my family's Memorial Day weekend at Virginia Beach . Somehow (as the culprit is unnamed) my heavy plastic bag with the book became the repository of an 'empty' water bottle. The lower 25% of the book absorbed the 'emptiness' and became wavy. Therefore, the plans within are useless.

The other package shows me to be an optimist mixed with a forgetful old fool. It was a makeup package from ET Models which within had the BMP-1 set I need, a second PT-76 set (which I no longer need after selling off my second kit), and a Tunguska set for a kit I was never sent.

Photos may happen tonight.

You might question the odd one out there is that 1:48 Pilatus Porter from Roden (box art shows the Australian Army colour scheme). That is a very special purchase for me as my father worked in the Australian Army Aviation squadrons here in Australia (Oakey Air Base). And by some miracle, this kit not only models the Australian version, but it even includes the decals for one of the very aircraft that my father worked on. This, once built, hopefully will be a surprise present to him.

Does anyone know if John's Dad is still around and how to reach him? This may be a perfect gift for him to remember his son.

... tamiya's panzer 35(t) - i had told the owner of the shop several times that i would prefer the original cmk offering but he didn't order it so i finally bit the bullet to fill that gap in my collection!

<cynism>but woohooo, for the tremendous higher price i got an additional sprue of early war jerry cans and a figure!< /cynism>

I wonder if the price will come down after Academy and Bronco release their Pz.Kpfw. 35 (t)?

A buddy of mine that flies a helicopter down in Haiti was up here for a few weeks. So he gave me a late birthday present. I guess he spends quite a bit of time around the airport and there are a couple of very derelict Air Hait C-46s there. So he decided to "borrow" some dataplates for me. But the biggest surprise was a small piece of Swamp Ghost. He said he was down in Chino when they first brought it in and he was able to get up close and there were lots of small bits floating around in the fuselage. He snagged one as well.

This C-46 has a very interesting story behind it. Seems that it served in the Pacific Theater and then went to a company in Brazil. Then was sold to Air Haiti. It has sat in a corner of the airport since the early 1980s. Slowly rotting and falling apart.

The backside. Still shows the nice Green color. Good for color matching.

Small piece from Swamp Ghost. Amazing what the south pacific does to aluminum. Planning on creating some type of shadowbox with this.

It certainly would look good on the base of a model. Williams Brothers makes the C-46 Commando and Academy the B-17E.
