Happy Thanksgiving in US

Somewhere near what is now the DMZ in Korea, 1952 :salute:

I continue to contend that gratefulness is best remembered more than one day of the year.

The peach cake bakery has changed some. A similar amount of effort produces greater yummy cheer to share.

Our great granddaughters have changed some.........
A great many things remind us of how truly blessed we are.

WKRP's 1978 Turkey Drop episode reminds me of simpler times, when there were only 4 channels on TV and you knew the all names of your favorite characters actors and actresses.
I hope none of my treasured friends must drive very far, and a stay safe, warm and snug.

Let's remember the people of Hurricane Helene. Throughout the Sunny South on this day, there are a great many families gathering what is left of their lives to give thanks, after their homes where wiped out by historic storms.

Only 56 days left until real help begins to arrive from a Washington DC that actually cares about American lives and livelihoods.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, I am sure we all have something to be grateful for!

My Wife insisted on turkey, while I added a 12 pound prime prime rib roast (the second prime describes the cut while the first the quality) and lobster tails for a SEAL Supper.

Huh? SEAL Supper? What's that?

Sea, Air, and Land. OK, even wild turkeys don't fly that much to be the A in air!
:yipee: :shark:

Turkey was made differently, broken into parts so the breasts and wings come out at 145 degrees (one half seasoned with Rosemary Salt and the other traditionally) while the dark meat goes to 205 degrees since it breaks down the collagen and makes it so tender.

I took care of the meats, like a shark :shark: should while my wife took care of the trimmings (other than the gravy with the turkey back, giblets, and breastbone). Pumpkin layer cake, mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon (her way to get me to eat greens), and some other turf... you know the food that my food eats.

Happy Thanksgiving 2024
I figure we just bump last years thread.
I'm Thankful we had no medical issues this year mainly because we're still paying off last years bills.
We're getting the house ready for 30 to show up. Even though some of the kids are married off and doing their own things now we still have a lot of folks coming up to Due West.

I'm smart this year, I got a 3/4 inch plywood sheet I'm putting the cooker on so I don't oil down the concrete pad. I only just now got the stain out from last year.

Oh, I've had to work 2 of the 3 days I've been off, nice to be needed but let's be honest, they only need me because i have the passwords.
Wow! You have a 3/4 in sheet of ply? I would be thankful just for that.
I am thankful just for knowing you guys as modeling friends and acquaintances.

We had a full house for sure. I wish I had gotten some more photos of everyone but I was a bit busy getting things setup and visiting. This is how the turkey turned out. I really wish I had gotten a snap of the platter after I carved it up, it looked as good as the whole bird. I also dropped a whole chicken back in the oil when done with the turkey. I saved that for Cindy and I to eat on over the weekend. I don't get the chance to do a fry like this so the use of the oil is a one time shot. I thought about dropping some shrimp in but didn't have time.

And the girls did great with all the attention they got and playing with the little ones. Really glad they can socialize so well.

Now to figure out what to do with the cat someone feed last night on the front porch!

I was at my brother-in-law's house all day Thanksgiving, so a belated Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I am thankful for all my family that I saw in September. I am so thankful I was there at my mother's 90th birthday party and had such a blast with all my family! I am thankful for the times I sang with my choir and for this hobby.

I am most grateful that I can share my mediocre work with everyone, and for the past opportunities I had to display my life's work building up such a collection of small scale vehicles. I am grateful for the time I've had building more than buying so my stash gets reduced.

I am so grateful to Bob for setting up and keeping our Gallery going so that I can show my work here and elsewhere. What a blessing that has been and still is!
