Happy New Year everyone!

One thing I love about this website is the diversity of cultures we have, even here in the US we have multiple traditions. I love learning about how much we are different, yet the same, you know.

Here in the Southern US the tradition (other than getting snot slingin' sloppy drunk) is to eat Greens and Peas. Collard Greens and Black Eye Peas, says it brings you good luck for making money the next year. I HATE Collards and Black Eye Peas unless seasoned with liberal amount of pork fat, which would blow the first New Year Resolution! Maybe that's why I never make any money...

So what tradition do y'all have for New Years? :popcorn

Well tonight Sarah and I are being lazy and sitting at the house. I was never really into celebrating New Years. But we now have a new couch to be lazy on while we watch some tv tonight hehe.

That's about our speed Ryan, Cindy will be in bed at about 8 and I'll be at the bench shortly. Party on Garth.. :dance

Had a quit night with a friend and the in laws.
Of course I had to watch the traditional "Dinner for one"

Dutch greasy food porn!
It's tradition to eat a disgusting load of OLIEBOLLEN for the New Year celebration in the Netherlands.
Some people will start on working on them in the kitchen first thing in the morning.

Gives me a reason to rinse with alcohol afterwards. :D

HAPPY NEW YEAR,FOLKS!

Greetings,Ron.

Growing up in NYC there was a lot of pressure to be at the wildest, hottest spot you could at midnight, whether it was a concert or comedy club, you had to have those plans swinging well in advance. And an obscene amount of alcohol stretching well into the following day.

When I got a little older it was a jazz club or restaurant with good friends, still partying, but not as hard.

Then when kids came along it was someone's house, lying low, but after a few years traveling wasn't worth the risk, so it was local friends and neighbors.

The last few years it's been homemade hot wings and a solid family battle of Risk and then a movie, but the bums left me home alone tonight...

Truth is I'm at the tail end of a pretty nasty cold, so I decided not to go with them to our neighbors party. I'm hoping bench time tonight, but more likely the couch and Netflix.

I hope everyone here has a great 2014, safe and healthy, to you and yours. :drinks

Well we do nothing anymore. When I was in the military we used to go to the Mess and party until all hours. Then New Years day go to the Levee and drink Moose Milk early in the morning.
Now we just stay in and have a glass of bubbly at midnight then crash. The oldest boy just showed up to ring in the new year with us so might have a rum and coke.

Happy New Year everyone.
James

PS seems that Canadians are the only ones who practice the Levee anymore.

In Romania there is a big feast, big party - eat all you can drink all you can dance till you drop kind of a thing. Needless to say, recovery days are needed afterwards :blink

In Australia in the middle of the summer, NYE is barbecue, lots of seafood, beers, wine, chilling with family and friends. The beaches are very popular spots too. See pic below from Bondi Beach

This year 1,000,000 people gathered in the CBD, around Opera House and Harbor Bridge to witness the fireworks.

We spent it at home, with my special other half and her parents who came from the UK for a 3 months visit. They cannot get over spending Christmas and NY in summer clothes :D , well, that's life downunder :silly:

Happy New Year everybody

Happy New Year Bob!
Our new year party got axed by a flu-like-bug that is going around.
So we are sitting on the couch, playing board games, drinking our beverage of choice (eggnog and Bacardi for me) and binge watching our shows on Net flix.

Cheers,

Bill

Rachel & I visited the Holiday Inn south, Holli-dome, caroused with my Bro & his girls from Ok. City, My Local Siblings, My Papa & his wife.
RTB 21:00 31 Dec. One can bear only so much cacaphony & disarray. I was only naughty twice. Watched ball drop, had some more homemade cinnamon rolls, and snuggled up to sleepin'.

On "Amatuer Night" Discretion is the better part of Valor. :drinks
Best wishes to all for 2014! (y)

Packing and moving, packing and moving... I will take time out, later today, for the traditional lobster dinner and on Staurday for the Ohio State football game....
