2022 Plastic Surgeon Meeting posts.

Wouldn't that be a SLICK'EM missile system? SLCM...get it..ah I'm not as handy with that stuff as I am IT stuff.

Looks like a good time. Thanks for sharing Chris :Drinks:

Who knows what targeting system a 1946 V-1 might have? Nate and I have both been working on 1/720 Graf Zeppelin DKM '46 ship models.
We agree Jose' will fit in well with our club!

Hurricane Ian Update:
Nikki reports in from Ft. Myers. She is well and whole. Damage to her lanai pool cover and surfaces of her home. Sketchy cell and internet service implying her power is on. Florida emergency and USCG rescue personnel have performed in an amazing fashion. Her first hurricane was a DOOZY!

No word from Greg and Maria so far.

Chris I'll be praying for those who went through Hurricane Ian. Glad to know Nikki was okay.

I love the Graf Zeppelin 1946! Brilliant idea and execution! Way to go Jose!

I have plans to build one from circa 1970-1980 after the Soviets captured it and towed it to their harbor. Instead of sinking it as a torpedo target, They decided to use it as an 'operational' test bed to try out different aircraft, as well as technologies wuith the goal of starting their foray into carrier aviation. Therefore mine will have a Soviet style bridge, an angle deck from a Kiev class ship grafted to the side, as well as Yaks, MiGs and Sukhois on deck. Because the Germans built catapults on the Graf, I will not be adding a ski ramp.

Hmmm...... I should start that......

Thanks for the awesome pics! I love living vicariously through these posts!

I've only been working on mine for 10 1/2 years. My GZ model isn't eating anything. Go-229's He-280V1-t and FW-190A-10t's ?!?

I have ya both beat. I have a couple that go back to the 80's. But then I didn't build anything from 1990 till about 2010 or so. (The big D does that to you)

We decided to make the Club meeting since we were both feeling pretty good. It was Cookie Night! I brought tasty treats to meetings all the time during my tour as Club President. It just seemed like time to do so again.

Nate's been working on his RS model airplanes. His RS 1/72 Italian Re. 2005 Sagittario is an elegant looking thing. The Me-109 and Dora are Academy kits. "Do something easy, do something hard, pretty soon you've finished a model."

Ross is building up another 1/35 Panzer II. The pictured details inside the hull are included in the kit. Ross comments that most of the intricat detail will be invisible once the cute little tank is assembled. I would comment that most of Ross' builds are chock full of near complete interior details that nobody can see. Generally he includes everything but the car keys, with the proper stenciling too!

Jose' (middle name, middle name) Pulido arrives with a collection of Revell "Collector's Choice" 1/72 scale airplane models. He tells us this is the entire colletion of WWII Revell model kits from the 1960's except the 1962 Mitsubishi Zero. I quick check of my "inventory" reveals I can be of NO help to Jose'. There is a Tempest V among Jose's builds. I cain't recall if it was a Collector's Edition or not. Jose' used the original kit decals on his vintage Revell builds. A trip down memory lane for sure! Remember the F2A Buffalo kit? :poop:

Carlton Burger brought is Pegasus Hobbies 1/48 "E-Z Snaps" Hurricane Mk. I to talk about. He built this kit when he returned to modeling. Time was, these affordable, snap-tite, not-too-bad kits were EVERYWHERE at a reasonable price. Great for beginers and interesting enough for a more seasoned modeler.

Curt Young's Halloween Joke-Of-The-Day:
"Why don't Monsters eat Ghosts? Because they taste like sheet!"
Curt is at every Club meeting that I know of since 1994 and always has a joke to tell. A great guy.

Hey Bob Hageman brought his 1/24 Corvette and 1959 Cadillac DeVille roadster conversion. Yes, the DeVille began it's evolution as a Corvette!
The tail lights are red bullet Christmas lights.

I brought 5 models that were mostly big enough to pass around for once. You guys have seen them all, except for the Fying Fluck.

Ross Petra brought the Kettenkfaftrad he refinished for me to add to my collection of models finished by Model Makers I admire. It will enjoy a special place of honor next to Herr Rommel and his DAK Panzer III diorama Don made for me when I asked him to paint a figure of the Feldmarshall.

NOW! I saved something special for last!

Ronnie Schultz' Mom was married to a guy that served in the SWPA in World War II. He was a Sailor. It looks like these span the Pacific Theater from Biak Island where 475th P-38 pilots flew with Charles Lindberg, to Tinian. The Superfortress said to be is one of the first B-29s to attack Tokiyo. These are pictures of pictures so the clarity may have suffered some. The Attack Transports are part of a 45 ship convoy on it's way to attack Japan, The navy hospital ship is the USS Refuge, AH-11. The Japanese ships are Kongo class Battleships, I do believe.
The Japanese Firetruck with Japanese firemen (?) is interesting, No? Thanks for sharing Ron!

Teresa works the early shift Friday mornings so we usually stay for show n' tell and head out after that.

There will be a Plastic Surgeons model contest come 1 April 2023. We are told it will be at the American Legion Hall in Bondurant, Iowa.
The stinky Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines has become quite unreasonably priced. The Hall has lots of parking and is in a much friendlier neighborhood.

Thanks again for looking in!

This is something i've never head of. Be still my heart.

Those photos are interesting. Would love to know the colors of the artwork on the jeep. Square Jawed sailors they all were weren't they?

Notice the taped over gun ports on the P38.

Still Puttin' Out has added interest in it's dissimilar cowl panels. can you imaging the judges at the table if you displayed that? :frantic:

I noticed a note taped to the prop blade of the Lightning. I cain't tell what it says.

You place the photo with the build. Then it becomes a non-issue.

I always love reading these post meeting followup reports! It almost feels like I'm there!

How many more models from modelers you admire do you still have to get?

Among Local model makers, I'm just about there.
I bought 6 of Chuck Sterns 1/72 airplanes and I have quite a collection of his started models and paintings. I can still build a model with Chuck.
I have Tommy Bly's 1/144 Martin Mars firebomber and his 1/144 Northwest Airlines 747.
I have several of Don Barry's excellent 1/35 Wehrmacht armor models. He's building 2 1/24 resin Jessica Rabbit figures. One for each of us.
I traded Frank for his 1/72 North Island ADC F8U-1 Crusader.
Greg left me with several of his 1/72 airplane models. I still fly the T-2C Buckeye around. She has legs enough to get to NAS Key West with only one AAR.
Mike Trent gave me a started 1/144 P-boat to finish. I can still build a Catalina with Mike.
I wish for one of Bob Maloy's chopped and channeled 1/24 car models because they're just cool!
I have one of the wing ribs from my Dad's 1/1 scale Cassutt III racing airplane hanging in the living room.
The wood intarsia Aviator Wings masterpiece Bob Wheeler made me hangs in a place of Honor here.

Despite my appearance, it seems down deep, I'm really just a sentimental old marshmallow.
