Help a poor ol' airplane dude out! I eed to know where I pick up some set dressing for my upcoming Well Done entry. I have some archaic stuff from the 70's, but I doubt that old Tamiya stuff will hold up against today's releases. I have some old Historex weapons and jerry cans that are still quite nice, but some personal gear and so forth would be nice. I've got a Kubel, a bike and a Zundapp to go in the scene- I'll be posting pics soon..

Thanks in advance- and cheers!

Hi there.

http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu144/completearmourmodelling/100_4098.jpg shows the styrene Academy Allied and German Tank Supplies Set I which *MIGHT* help you. It has 3 Jerry cans, some tank ammo crates (+ ammo) a fuel drum and crank pump for it, an oiling can, an oiler and one German rucksack.

The set is about $5.00 and is worth it in my opinion. You also get a number of US accessories too.

Cheers from Peter

Chuck, if you have missed Ken Abram's videos on You Tube you should check it out. He's got some great tips to make stowage of all sorts that adds the uniqueness that sets his stuff apart from the kit supplied things.
The Scale Model Madman

I know you and I both will get a lot of suggestions on where to get stuff from all our pals here. just hold on... :mpup

Thanks, Peter! Moon, I just know our mud-slogging buddies will be most forthcoming. ;)

I did a bit of research and found this at Black Dog- Pretty cool!

Hey Chuck , :)

I would definitely recommend Dragon Gen 2 German figure sets , they have the best IMHO opinion Gas mask cannisters , bread bags , shovels , zeltzbahn rolls, weapons , ammo pouches etc as well as PE slings . Most sets come with a lot of spares too

Plus Model do some really nice sets Here (check out set 165 one of my favourites , printed double sided you have 1/35th scale magazines etc ) and Reality in Scale Here do some useful stuff like maps in scale thicknesses . Verlinden also do lots of stuff . For Jerry cans I recommend the new Great Wall set which has PE for the central seam and are now considered the most accurate on the market .

The set you are looking at from Black dog is moulded pretty much as one big chunk which means it looses any individuality .

Let me know if there is anything else you need Chuck .

Jenny

Thanks, James and Jenny! I'll be looking up this stuff, and shpping for some gen 2 figs. How do you tell them from gen 1?

The reason I like the Black Dog bits are that they'd be relatively quick for a GB, and a fun exercise in painting. I should have a Tasca (Dragon) Kubel on the doorstep when I get home- but these are for a Tamiya. Plus, I have the Aber PE hiding somewhere in the shop. Oh, bother!

Hi there.

Dragon Generation 2 figure sets have Generation 2 on the front box art. My understanding is that some of the Generation 2 Mauser rifles have hollow muzzles and separate bolts.
