Fiat CR.42 plus photo etch.

Nevermind me, I'm just the guy in the corner turning blue from holding my breath for the finish shots :)

Looks awesome Christian! (y)

Well, the last couple of days have been spent applying and removing sludge. Yesterday I watched it dry and finally today I applied a flat finish.
I also found some appropriate material to make the data plate on the engine gear case.

Don't look for any Italian words, I can't write that small

and then, one of my favorite things. I broke out the pastels and went to work.

I'll put some more clear on it tomorrow.

Thanks for looking. Comments and ideas welcome.

Cheers, Christian B)

It's taken me this long to see what everyone is talking about.

Really nice job Chris, exactly what did you do with the pastels?

Hello everyone, sorry if you're waiting on me to post but setting up the photo studio up at my place is somewhat of a chore. I do value opinions though so here we are....Much latter> I hope lighting is better.

I hope everyone can now see well enough to for an opinion. It probably does not need much more dirt but I thought that fading just a bit might be nice. Opinions ? ? ? Surely welcome.

Hi Bob, sorry for the darkness over there. The process is quite simple actually. Nearly a no brainer. Pick some dirt colors you like and start rubbing on top of flat finish till you like it.

The only things to remember.

1. watch for fingerprints.
2. seal with clear when done
3. The dirt will fade some when clear is applied , so exagerate when applying dirt.

Cheers, Christian B)

Hi,Christian.

I really like that faded and used look on your Fiat!(y)
In the past I used pastels also on my AFV's with good results, but when I 'discoverd' pigments,I never used them again because pigments are superiour to pastels.[...just my 2 EUROcents]

Mind you,you made an awesome model out of this one!:)

Greetings,Ron.

Thanks guys for your inputs .

Ron I like the pigments myself but at around $ 9:00 I have saved a few $ since 1994 which is when I bought the chalks. I am starting to get some Mig pigments now and again.

Cheers, Christian

Yo Chris,

In my unexperienced eyes, I don't know where you could go from here. I mean, it's already amazing - is there a way to improve your model?

I think the weathering is just a wee bit heavy, but it looks well-used in any event. I am also partial to Hungarian aircraft, so no matter what I like it a lot!

Hello everyone. It's finally time to post the final updates.

This picture is of the final filter after it was applied. Toned down the dirt and pulled the other colors together.

Now the final stretch of adding details that were guaranteed destruction if added too soon .
At this point the engine was assembled for the final time and hung. The lower half of the landing gear and bomb shackles were built and installed.

Of course every pilot will want a rear view mirror.

Some position light, cable braces and machine guns....

Of course if a radial engine was not leaking oil it would certainly be out of it.

So, this brings us to some family mugshots.

Now, I'm parking it in the hanger before something else happens to it.

Thanks for looking. I hope you enjoy ! See you in the bomber build.

very nice last touch ups - looks even better than before. This Italian ?bomber? looks great too.

HI Martin and thank you for your kind words. The bomber was my first post on here but I think it is no longer in the galleries. It is a rebuilt Italeri kit of the Fiat BR.20
Cheers, Christian

I knew it would come to this: the little rascal is absolutely gorgeous, Chris!!! (y) Now I see what could be improved on your model since I last asked about it: excellent build and most awesome paint job, specially the wear & tear part! :notworthy The small parts of a 1/72 kit must be awfully fragile and surely need expert hands to avoid breakage. Very good show, old chap! :dude

Oh! And the family shot is very cool: that bomber looks great! :)

Cheers and thanks for sharing the whole build with us! :Hiay
