Eduard 1/48 Bf110E Trop - Finished!!

Meant to get this up the other day but have been having "fun" with my internet :facepalm
The 1/48 Bf 110 range of Eduard kits along with their Fw 190s seem to be the ones that all the Eduard haters love to hate :cheer: So I'm going to find out what all the fuss is about and see if it's not a bunch of sloppy modelers shooting their mouths off :tomato
Ok that was a joke I do know the kit has a few issues but I'm going to try to overcome them without the need for loads of filler etc...

After seeing what you can do with the truly unbuildable 1/72 Roden Gotha I know this one will be quite a breeze for you mate :pilot

Got the same kit, Dave, but planning on doing one of the other options. Will be very interested to see yours progress.

I've got the 110G-2 that I really want to build but I'm scared  after all the horror stories. I'll be watching close on this one!

Good Luck!

Thanks. I have been at this on and off cos I've had quite a lot to do recently not just model wise of course. One of the issues is the fit of the engine nacelles - if you just put them together with minimal clean up you get this pretty much -

Best way to tackle it is from the inside rather than go with it and add a load of filler which I've seen done. File down the inside bits where the engine joins the wing and the front of the wing too which the engine sits on and the fit is much more acceptable -

On the last pic I took a little bit off that lower right corner.
The cockpit has no issues really besides having quite a few parts -

I'm having the nose shut which also has some fit issues if you do but if you leave out as much as you can and chop a couple of corners off it's fine -

As you can see in the last pic all major airframe parts are together and as of that pic I haven't used any filler. It is going to take some sanding I can see and a little of CA to fill the odd crack in but so far so good.
One thing I haven't mentioned yet is that I removed all the locator pins - this helps a lot.

Way to go Dave, it is a bitch, but doable.

Nice ''how to fix'' guide. Top work :good:

Some good tips here . Thanks , as I have a couple of these .

Guess it'll be one of my normal builds. Saw , file mumble , Saw , file mumble , Saw , file mumble ,

Getting this one done slowly -

A question if I may - would this scheme have all the normal stencils applied like on a green one?

Eduard 1/48 Bf110E Trop

That's slow?

Where did the shading come from, post or pre?

I got no answer for you, was the yellow field applied?
