Dora 1/35

Hey I have all those pliers, the optical is my favorite (2nd from the right). There maybe a future in Orthodontics for you if you keep bending wire so nicely.

Not to bust anyone's chops but the "Proper way to hold Ortho pliers is as such:

Thanks for that tip John. I'll be using that once I find mine. That grip does look like it would be easier to use those pliers.

Hi my friends, more updates on Dora. I’m working on the generator room and doing some changes and modifications to it. First the floor area was cut and replaced with new catwalks made with styrene strips and aluminum mesh…

The original part is removed

It looks like this Now

Using styrene strips 2.5 x 3.2mm I made the new catwalks

The new sides and the original one
c41byNy.jpg

The catwalks receive the 1/6 aluminum forming mesh and brass handrails from 1.5mm diameter brass rod.

For the rail support brackets I used left overs part 28, this are cut and placed on each side of every tube
S7izkyV.jpg

Glued in place
eDqhNYR.jpg

And finally cut the bottom edge flat
FaD7X8b.jpg

It’s now finished

The bottom part of the room received styrene sides were the original catwalks used to be

It also received a styrene floor

All these interior space empty? Naaaa so I started to build a generator for it, I like to punish myself…so with the only picture I have of the generator room showing a glimpse of the big engine I started to build the large radiator
Using styrene, mesh from a strainer and pieces of abs H it started to take shape

V6nD0ak.jpg

Now using two resin panzer IV transmissions and parts from the scrap box I started the big engine
vxma7gp.jpg

I made the crankcase with the two transmissions cut and glued together, then used square styrene forms to make the cylinder block and head and finally the rest of the details with the parts from the scrap box
It now looks like this

Pa0LbmV.jpg

The engine received a fan and belt made from styrene and plastic bits

The generator is made with a ¾ cpvc coupling and more parts from the scrap box
VAYD7dM.jpg

Here I’m making sure all is coming together
KjJwdDe.jpg

BdpxEYh.jpg

Glued two support beams and the radiator in place
yHLeQTY.jpg

Mounted the engine and build the generator supports with styrene sheet
GXaoftU.jpg

Added the fuel tank and it’s all looking like this

Still lots of details and modifications to add but is getting there.
Thanks for looking!

Hi my friends, work continues on Dora’s generator room. More details made in different areas
The kit mufflers are modified, the molded exhaust tubes are replaced with aluminum ones
And the silencers are separated.
The stock mufflers
22L4xtr.jpg

After separating it the plastic end is cut and the holes for the new ones drilled
5Ax0xgL.jpg

The new tubes in place
VLllmnn.jpg

The pipes are made with 3mm soldering wire and plastic rings from styrene tubes
nr9bX5N.jpg

The engine exhaust pipes are made with the same soldering wire
2R9g8Lm.jpg

TocDCxF.jpg

U1jWzK1.jpg

The radiator houses are made again with the 3mm soldering wire with styrene strip clamps
VcYMOvv.jpg

More details like lifting eyelets, wires from the generator to the control panel, starter and alternator cables, Fuel lines, battery and fuel tank brackets etc. are made
KGVrIAH.jpg

Here a 1/35 dragon figure on the side so you can have an idea of the engine size
MoQNWLQ.jpg

s2Z85Lv.jpg

The upper structure of the generator is modified a little, first the side ladder plastic steps are replaced with wire ones, the ladder is missing two steps, to place the upper one you need to relocate the base For part O46 a little to the right for the step to fit
The base is removed and glued a little to the right
1Svnhtj.jpg

A piece of styrene .10 is glued to the base to compensate for the lost plastic
2iPqJxd.jpg

The part is relocated and the steps added
WIXiPza.jpg

VdYMFNs.jpg

With the ladder completed I started to remove the reinforcement plastic from the roof area
To make space for the generator
msu9M7D.jpg

ZIpVlQa.jpg

I just leave a small section of the plastic on the middle to reinforce the parts, then sanded all smooth
Qg5lBCs.jpg

A test fit and all is good
UhaQZxd.jpg

Now I started working on the generator doors, this are single doors instead of dual folding doors, so
After marking the new areas I started cutting the plastic
The original doors
BwGon2S.jpg

The new holes are marked and cut
7jrL22W.jpg

B1bxJif.jpg

Now it looks like this
wfrZLDb.jpg

With the new size of the door spaces, the thickness of the plastic wall was evident so I have to thin it down So that with the doors opened it look more to scale.
Here a comparison of the standard thickness and the sanded down one
The standard was more than 3mm, now its 1mm
qrAd7uO.jpg

A 1.5 styrene strip is glued around the edge of the wall to compensate for the sanded down thickness For it to fit properly
dvnbgMO.jpg

The new doors are made with .040 styrene sheet and measure 12 x 32mm
C0eSKnt.jpg

And the measurements of the doors area
yt0QbgO.jpg

The doors are installed, hinges are made with styrene rod cut into small pieces then glued together
cYphmdr.jpg

7iZxo98.jpg

A piece of .040 styrene 4 x 32mm is glued on the middle of each door opening
4nvKVGM.jpg

Q3peCGE.jpg

2ku22ua.jpg

udG1TKx.jpg

Using 1mm styrene sheet I made the sound insulation panels for each door
3gq6GyR.jpg

seinzJ0.jpg

Here you can see the double doors with the styrene hinges and the locking handles also made with bits of styrene rod
ZNWj9U0.jpg

3WkVoTa.jpg

And the inside locking detail
fKUna00.jpg

I’m in the paint process of the generator and making more hand rails and scratch details so stay tuned
Thanks!!
