Hi there.

Unlike me, most people have no idea what started the Rolling Stones. The truth about how the Rolling Stones got started.

The CARPENTERS went to KISS and Karen Carpenter saw THE BEATLES near her MEATLOAF so she screamed which caused the other one to drop his HAMMER that fell and hit a bunch of stones and started them rolling and THE VILLAGE PEOPLE shouted "See all those ROLLING STONES!"

Cheers from Peter

Hey, gang
Never forget that without the Beatles we may have never heard of the Stones, the Kinks, the Who, the....
We would have had to be satisfied with Elvis, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Fats Domino and the Beach Boys.
However, without Chuck Berry, we may have never heard of the Beatles, the Stones or ... the Monkees.:hmmm
Peace and Love,
Randy

The Stones are my favorite all-time band, who began way back in 1962, the year I was born. I even have a few books on them; I want to get "Keef's" new book, "Life," which came out this month. Back in high school, they were really hot for "old guys," with "Some Girls," "Emotional Rescue," and "Tattoo You."

You would have been hard-pressed to find many of the kids my age at that time that could name all 4 Beatles (this was before the 60's revival) but they could sure tell you plenty about the Stones. To most kids I knew, the Beatles were our parents' music, sort of a prototype boy band. The Stones, on the other hand, were eternally and effortlessly cool.

If you haven't seen the video "Rock-n-Roll Circus," created in 1969, I highly recommend you watch it. It's a literal time capsule into that era and just fascinating. Besides the Stones, it also had The Who, John Lennon (with Yoko, unfortunately), among others.

I might add that Brian Jones isn't given near enough credit for creating and naming the Stones, may he RIP. No Jones...no Stones. :ro:

NYTE,

Oh, I know th Rock-N-Roll Circus all too Well. I bought it th day it came out ! Now, The Beatles Trippy stuff is pretty good B) , but the Stones are 100% Rock with NO excuses. Brian Jones had some really clever stuff, but just got lost in th sauce.

Speaking of the Circus - Who could forget the Super Mega band that came out of that - The Dirty Mac - Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Keith Richards & Mitch Mitchell !! Woah !:notworthy :notworthy :ro: :ro:

I was very big on MOTOWN , ........ let's step back a tad before the Beatles and the Stones and remember that a lot of their music was MOTOWN , and R&B inspired !!!

When I was young kids used to say that the Beatles music was for " smokin one and mellowing out " .

But they also said , the Stones was " drinkin music " , ........ for dancin , partyin , drivin , and rasin hell !!!

Didn't really like pot back in the late sixties , .......... I mean it was great for watchin MONTY PYTHON on Sunday night at 11:30 pm on PBS .

But , .......... if you wanted to go clubbing and dance , ........ or to a picnic and toss some horse shoes , ......... you had to ROCK , ....... ZEP , SONES , WHO , ETC. .............

WHILE HAVING A FEW BEERS , ....... NATURALLY !!!!

Have you ever seen the movie with Ralph Macchio called "Crossroads"? It features blues by Ry Cooder and Steve Vai.

Ry Cooder's "Feelin' Bad Blues" is one of the most gorgeous pieces of music ever created.
