Der Rote Kampfflieger

Been a long time since I worked two different subjects at the same time. Working on the fuel pump from https://www.aviattic.co.uk

Wont be anything shinny on this thing. I'm thinking very oxidized aluminum.

Got the Barron on his feet Gary!

I'm going to salvage engine parts from some old builds in those boxes.

From what I could find out when I did my fuel cart, they were a very light almost white, Grey with a red band on the top ring. Having said that, this looks kind of neat. As an aside, someone just made some STL files of fuel carts, a vertical like this and a horizontal one. I got them printed out and cant wait to try them out. Keep on Going MP, watching with interest :)
James

PS there is a metal band around the wheels.

Thanks James, far from finished, might be some white wash yet, that fuel back then could not have been good for painted surfaces. Red band on the top, Got it! I've only seen a couple of photos of those things. Wonder what the outlet handle looked like, that I haven't seen.

Yeah, this wasn't his fokker.

These are the videos I've mentioned, or not mentioned. @Brokeneagle Here's the video I think I told you about a while back.
Fokker filmed various scenes around JG1. And since I"m having so much trouble with the tripod for the camera it may not make it to the show.

I'm still playing around with the layout of the base. I was told @errains that my ground work was a bit bland so I spilt some oil around, let's see if that helps.

Thanks MP. :good:

Der Baron and Anton were rumored to have been fast friends. I can understand why that Fokker might come to see Manfred's new airplane.
I am always struck by how young these brave men were. Neat video!
I wonder if the feldmarshall in the car is Wilhem ritter von Leeb? It looks a little like him. :oldguy:

There are pretty detailed notes on those pages with the video. They have time stamped notes about who's where and when if they can identify them.
On 16 August 1918, Leutnant Ernst Riedel of Jasta 19 crashed to his death when a portionof his Fokker E.V’s wing broke away during a practice flight. Three days later, Leutnant EmilRolff of Jasta 6 was killed shortly after takeoff when his E.V’s wing collapsed. A CrashInvestigation Commission, headed by Leutnant Friedrich Mallinckrodt of Idflieg, was quicklyformed to review the E.V’s structural soundness and Anthony Fokker was summoned to theFront where the Commission met at the staff headquarters of Jagdgeschwader 1 (JG 1) atBernes on 24 August. Fokker was accompanied by several of his employees. [1] Some ofthis reel’s scenes were undoubtedly filmed during this trip. Others, like the train sequencehere, may have originated then too. If so, this segment was taken while Fokker was on atroop train traveling to or from the Front upon the occasion of his visit to JG 1 (atBernes/Montigny Ferme). Since the Commission later reconvened at Adlershof airfield nearBerlin on 30 August (with Mallinckrodt and Fokker in attendance) the likely time period islate August 1918.
So you are right that Fokker would only had been looking at his fokkers. Earlier in this thread I think I put together when the Baron's red Triplane and this D.V would have been active, they both could have been flying during a time period. I think I was planning on building the Triplane also, one of those grand schemes I had in mind.

What is the time stamp of the subject you're talking about?

21:55 in "Fokker films: von Richtofen, Goering WW 1 flying aces. Fokker."
There sure is a lot of Fokkery going on in these films.

21:55 is Daddy von Baron
21:46 – 21:55 Manfred von Richthofen (at wheel) prepares to drive away with his fatherAlbrecht as a passenger. The major was affectionately known as the Fliegervater (“Father ofFlyers”) by Richthofen’s men, and several are seen here making a show of saying goodbyeto him. The second to do so is JG 1’s adjutant Oberleutnant Karl Bodenschatz.
The segment before that shows Werner Voss and Fokker.
