Uschi Van Der Rosten products. I cain't recommend doing business with them.

I got a spool of this.

And Berkshire Junction EZ Line.

But you're right, these folks are sourcing this somewhere. where?
Yay Bob!!
Sprue brothers is out of stock, but eBay had the Infini Model 0104B 40 denier 145 foot roll from a shop in Houston, TX.
I ordered one to evaluate this product. I still have a 1/48 Curtiss RC3-2 to rig.

40 Denier scales out to .0027 mm. Bob has the exactly right diameter at 110 Denier or .0132 mm or .0005 inches. This Lycra material is flexible and stretchy. Perfect! I can see why MiG Ammo would market 5-foot lentghs. Who needs 145 feet for any one project, but you pay as much for 5 feet as you do for 145 feet. Not lots of really sharp Policework left to do on this one.

In other words, IB meine Unterkleidung, Herr Glass.

Orders can be made from Infini Model in South Korea, but I went back to eBay, paid $2.00 more a roll and reasonable USPS Shipping from Katy, Texas. Mystery solved.

You got me all confused, Chris. for 1/48 scale I would think .0015 would be about right. What Denier is that? 300?

I have the Uschi fine and super fine. The super fine is so fine it is invisible in photos of 1/72 scale models. The fine is also hard to see but is workable for 1/72 and 1/48. What I like about it is that it will stay straight with almost no tension, much better than the railroad line stuff.

I went with the Infini Models product with Lycra in the description. I wondered if the Model Aero rigging is elastic or just fine solid thread. :bm:

Fishing line also gives you some support just like the real thing. My problem was I had issues getting tension consistent on load bearing wires. Had a DIIV or something that the landing gear were wonked because fishing line. OK, it was because of me but using fishing line.

I have used either stretched sprue or in recent years, nylon thread. On Albatros D.I I built a while back there was one line I didn't get quite right and it was saggy. I remembered someone making a remark about using the coal on a cigarette to draw up the lines. Got out my main little soldering iron and carefully held the tip under the line a bit and it drew up nice and tight.

@paddy That DH2 rigging looks awesome!

Just to add my 6cents worth......I had issues with Uschi as well trying to get some wood decals and masks. Paid for them and they didn't turn up. Took ages to get my money back and ended up getting my bits and pieces elsewhere from and indirect supplier.

Yep, and MiG sells his .03mm diameter, 10m spool for a reasonable price, before VAT (?) and shipping costs.
In inches, the diameter is 0.001181102. Scale diameter for 1/700 waterline ships would be .83 inches.

I love it when he makes a knot around the grab handle! I wonder how many takes that took!

Our experiences sound quite similar. A common denominator with recent Uschi customers, it seems. Honestly, that was one of the reasons I sought an obituary for Herr Glass.

In the event of my death, tlarmodels.com might run through the end of my annual subscription period, before GoDaddy shut it down for lack of payment.

The good folks at Discover decided my Uschi dispute in my favor. They refunded my $$ plus interest and reversed the charges.
:yipee:
I encourage everyone else here to file disputes of your own, unless the window of opportunity has closed.
