Colossus-Building the Bismarck-Trumpeter 1/200th

Thank you gents, appreciate it. Good to know that my build is motivating some of you to revisit the ships you started :D

Time for a minuscule update ...

First of the 8 paravanes finally in place.

Each of the 6 x 150mm turrets received the PE ring around the base.

Three anchors at the bow - they are missing the chain, so I had to dig through the PE stash and harvest some. Here it is, in place. Needs some cleaning around it, but it will be fine.

Some of the vents - I am not sure how many they are in total, at least 20, that's for sure, of all shapes and sizes. Here are some of them done, PE bits attached, primed and painted.

Three of the (yet again) many capstans of all different shapes and sizes, primed and painted.

That's it for now, thanks for watching.

Yeah these large ships have tons of little details. They are more like building several kits than just one.

Looking good Laurence!

Fantastic Laurence,

I love that first photo. I can see that the detail on this build is going to be impressive!

Thank you Gentlemen :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

While some decisions are being made (that means I am trying to figure out how to do some stuff :D ), I made a start on the heavy flak guns. There were 8 batteries, 105mm (4.1") SK C/33 official designation.

These are the components from the kit and the detail kit, for one battery only.

Dry fitting session next:

The one to the right is the base, common to all 8 batteries, then, there are two different shapes that go on top of that base.

Managed to prime everything, waiting for them to dry, then off to painting and weathering.

In the meantime, I am looking at the 150mm turrets, this is the rear of one of them.

Those steps are all PE in the detail kit, need to attach them. Here is what the fret looks like. It contains all the PE for all turrets and batteries onboard the ship.

The steps in question are right here:

To the left and right, the rails for the big 380mm turrets.

AAA battery in the photo, to help with understanding the size of these things :bang head

Right, off to doing some work now, thanks for looking,

Laurence

Laurence,

Better you than me with all that Photo-etch!

But, I've noticed you have the patience to do it and do it right!

Hang in there, this is gonna be a real masterpiece!

I am the least patient man you'll ever meet Bob :D , it's only a matter of not having a choice. This has to be done right, no matter what.

Wow, that's a lot of PE! :good:

Yep, and that's only for guns and associated structures.

This is all the PE in the detail kit only, there's a lot more in the original kit, some of which is redundant, but not all.

Below, the PE parts in the original kit - that's two frets in each bag.

And this is one page of the 8 color pages (plus 5 BW ones) in the detail kit -

Yep, totally true, a lot of PE :D :D :D
