Color WWII photos ...............

without looking in the book all i can say is somewhere in the soviet union!

i'll check it out later and let you know! if a specific place is mentioned!

saúl - neither exact date nor the exact location is mentioned in the book! it's "operation barbarossa in photographs" by paul carell ... the pic can be found on page 394 in chapter 9, the chapter about retreat, deaths and graves but that gives no hint about time and location since deaths and graves were merged with the retreat pictures in that book!

lots of photos and (in my issue) 77 color photos (not colorized!)

Thanks, I don't have that book so I will add it to my wishlist (fulfilled three times a year).

The one thing I like about this Photo is the Variation of Shade on the Uniforms. The Shades of Field Grey. Then there is the Leather Jacket !

Excellent color photos including one of the tractor RSO (picture LIFE ), or there is a headphone French mechanized units (tanks) on the roof of the car :woohoo: , probably a photo taken in 1945

LAURENT,

I think these pix came from Italy(IIRC) here are some more from that set.

Thank you Sherman 18! I love captured stuff and I built the old HO scale Airfix Japanese tank eons ago based on a color profile. Now I can build it again with real reference photos! This means getting another kit of course.
;)

Regards,

Great stuff Jeff, I really like that Green Widow.

Wiki has a very high resolution version of that image.

This is a great example of how OD looked back then, it surely was not monotoned.

Ah, The Spook... one of three sharkmouthed (OK , this has a funny face) Black Widows I want in my collection. I got the Dragon kits, the Eduard PE, but no one makes the decals in 72nd scale!

Here is a larger sized scan and a huge black and white scan of the aircraft after it crashed in the fog:

A mystery... 42-39405 "Model/Anonymous III" which was also named " Mississippi Night Mare" also wears the funny face at one point. I wonder if the nose was swapped?

The others are P-61A Black Widows of which one is in OD:
