The multiple colors is something I have noticed in all aircraft. If you are building a sufficiently detailed cockpit, it will be quite busy. It doesn't seem to matter what nationality of plane it is, the cockpit will have a fair amount of color differences in the instruments, panels, knobs and switches.

Yep, I saw it multiple times during my short stay in the USAF, not one aircraft had a solid colored innards, I'm not talking about the IP or even up in the cockpit. All through the aircraft there were different shades of zinc, even overpainted shades of zinc.

I often wonder about interior colours, i remember seeing the ~Royal navy museums Wildcat and the cockpit was black, panels, seat, interior walls everything. This is an aircraft like a time capsule. When they stripped back the last RN paint job they found the colours Grumman used for its delivery to the Royal navy and there were no official records of this scheme, just one old colour image

If you look carefully its a 2 colour camo in a sort of green and blue.
when they stripped the over paint off the museum aircraft they found these colours preserved so they did the restoration in them

its pretty much correct, some is restored some is original like parts of the tail and wing

the point is its a classic example how even in 2015 they still were only discovering original paint finishes and as far as i know, and i saw this aircraft before and after restoration the interior was all matt black with heavy chipping , although the navy very likely repainted the outside to navy colours its unlikely they ever painted the inside.
The other thing of note was how crude it was inside,, nuts ,bolts ,rivets ,clocks on home made brackets ,stuck where ever there was a space, replacement parts jammed in gaps and large gaps everywhere. If someone had said oh its a standard instrument panel used in all fighters just cut to fit with the bits they cut off rivetted somewhere else you would see what they meant .

Here is a photo from the Ju88 restoration going on in Norway. They have been working on this since 2003. Not sure what the restoration status is at the moment, but the cockpit is mostly done I believe. Here is a photo from a while back.

The cockpit on the J1N1 is complete. Not including the guns and mount, there are over 25 parts. The most detailed cockpit OOB I've ever done and added to that all the different colors. The cockpit on the Beau seems a little basic conspired which is almost done. The Beau looks a little portly next to the J1N1. Gary S.

One of the things I didn't like about was the gun troughs and it made me hesitate to start it. This AM I managed to drill them out. Since the seats were nothing to write home about, along with the cockpit, I decided to include the crew with a few modifications. Gary S.

I believe I drilled the gun troughs out as well when I built my Turkish one!

The Irving work is really nice, Gary. Don't worry about the Beaufighter cockpit, crew or not you can't see much of it.

I made blast tubes from 18g needles. The fit of the fuselage was good with minor clean up and a little crazy glue. Wings went together every well. Going to clean them up before attaching to fuselage. I decided to button up the crew access doors. Nothing to see anyway. Thanks for looking, Gary S.

Got the wings on both models. The fit on the Beau is near perfect and the fit on the Irving is perfect. This is the best fitting model I've ever done. Gary S.

Painted the white for the invasion stripes with a rattle can. Removed the trim tab actuators from the upper horizontal stabs and attached some photo etch that wasn't used from my Val model. Also removed the wedge shape from the crew access door.

The nacelle parts for the Irving fit beautiful along with the tail feathers. Gary S.
