Having delivered all of Nate Stevens' auction booty last Thursday night, he bestowed USAAC 106 gallon external fuel tanks for the Moonbat.
For free, even! :yipee:
Reykjavik-based P-67B's will need all the fuel they can get. Thanks to "The other White Nate" for his airplane model-rousity!

Remember me?!
An off-shoot of priming Fred's HO railcars was I had lots of reefer gray loaded in the Aztek. Mr. Moonbat whispered to me.
A cursory, partial primer coat showed panel lines that needed tied together and the nose ahead of the windscreen that need more attention.

I wonder if a coat of sealer might be beneficial. The Anigrand resin seems to soak up the Floquil enamel, taking a long time to cure.
Any thoughts, Men?

While Carl and I were blabbing last night, I put the Rotol props together. I'm definitely going with the 5-bladed fans!
I'm not sure how Iceland-based 1946 USAAC fighters would be finished. "Virgin Widow II" says overall black to me, but the I hoped to create a counterpoint to Ernst Udet's He-280V-T3 DKM "Ocean Ambush" scheme. :hmm:
Sorting through the parts box and readying the landing gear for paint was a little trip down creativity's memory lane!
Thanks for looking in!

Icelandic based, I think mottled whitewash. :popcorn

Well, Germans had a nice night-fighter camouflage with a mottled finish from above (here is an example on a He-219):

Would go well with the black & white shark teeth:

In 1946, if your job is to escort New Brunswick-based B-32 Dominators to UK, the logical place to base your fighters is the Keflavik peninsula.
Icelandic topography is a combination of browns, tans and greens in fair weather. Most of your escort mission will be spent over the North Atlantic. Quite a lot of that would be flown in darkness. One should think Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine strike aircraft might visit your base at will.
Overall sea blue would make sense. Nah, Too "Navy". Don't worry! I'll try to think of something.

I'm quite partial to the RCAF/RAF schemes for coastal command 1940.
Dark Slate Grey upper with Extra Dark Sea Grey disruption and Sky Grey lower.
Scroll down to the Coastal Command colours.
It just seams to fit the North Atlantic vibe.
