All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

Thanks Luiz . The extra tabs have been very useful for getting both halves together while I experiment with the interior.

If it's not too late, double check those ventral strakes on the F-8. They look like they may be flip-flopped. They should be canted out at an angle as opposed to nearly vertical. Unless it's just optical illusion, in which case disregard.

Thanks Chris! I appreciate the heads up on that. I hadn't realized how far those were supposed to spread out. The instruction sheet was definitely misleading. I'll get that fixed right away.

Thanks again and also thanks for that link. What an amazing story too! I'm sure he was ready to spit nails after so many failures of missiles and guns!

Nice job on the alignment tabs Christian. I think I'll adopt that technique myself for the future. Brilliant idea!

Thanks . The kit itself fits quite well ( so far ) but the lack of alignment pins is bothersome.

This is my first attempt with the tabs . Pretty much like having an extra hand or two...

Cheers, Christian B)

Looks like Mark is trudging along :soldier ... Some fine looking work there ...

I've been working on different things I hope to have a better show on my commission build ... but life was there first ... anyway ...

That's all I have ... I must align the bents on the foundation ... and install more bracing ... :hmmm :woohoo: :salute

My birthday was in July and i got some WW1 aircraft kits as presents.

Time to start Fokkering around here.

This is the Revell 1/28 scale Fokker Dr.1 Triplane kit. It's a decent size kit in 1/28 scale and it's an oldie too. At least the molds are old = 1957 copyright date inside the fuselage.

Seeing as the model is a pretty big size and seeing as the actual engine in the aircraft was a rotary one (not a radial engine as some mistakenly think) i decided to add an electric motor to mine. So far i have the kit engine built and modified to mount onto the electric motor.

I've also assembled the cockpit. Note the 1957 copyright date.

This is one of four WW1 aircraft kits i got for my birthday. I'm hoping to track down a Revell 1/28 scale Sopwith Camel in the near future.

There are few dfifferences between the Dr.1 and the prototype Fokker F1 that Werner Voss and Richtofen flew earlier. Most notable is the absence of the wingtip skids. I'm seriously thinking of painting this model to represent Werner Voss' Fokker F1 as I've always admire Voss' last fight and the face he'd painted on the front of his engine cowling.. The man was a superb pilot.

Cheers

Looks like fun Peter.

It is fun Moon. "I build for fun!" is my modelling moto.

Apparently Revell had 4 of these 1/28 scale kits. there was the Fokker Dr.1 Rictofen in red (also later a blue version with Werner Voss' markings), a Spad Xiii, a Sopwith Camel and later a very poorly done Fokker DVII where the fuselage needed major correcting.

Recently I watched a bit of the theatrical films, THE RED BARON and also RICHTOFEN and BROWN. Those two films should be filed under fiction as aboutthe only thing accurate in them is the names Richtofen and Brown.

Btw, it's been proven conclusively that Roy Brown did NOT shoot down the Red Baron. The angle of the bullet wound shows Richtofen was hit by ground fire and that's further enhanced by the short time anyone could have lived with such a wound. The very short time from getting hit like that and dying precludes any bullet from Brrown's Camel hitting Richtofen. The autopsy showed that Richtofen died from a single bullet which was the only bullet that hit him.

Cheers

Just trying to add some obvious detail that Eduard left out of the wheel well.

So much for being able to build it out of box... :rotf

When was the last time I was able anyway :idonno

Looks good Chris :popcorn

Thanks .Surprise to see that your favorite aftermarket people do not offer a PE set for their very own product.

Took me a long time to figure out how to make these . Particularly the front ones since they are far from being 90 degree. :side:

Nice scratchwork Chris!

Myself- I have been trying to beat the heat by staying near the fans and weathering the beasts-- first the Sturmtiger-
