All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

Spent some time in the new hobby room. Actually managed to slam together most of a Revell 1/35 UDT boat. Nice when the entire build is basically one color lol. Tomorrow its seam filling and laying down some paint. After this build I'll move onto a Tamiya D.520 :geek

2 days and nothing got worked on due to my back actin' up. :bang head :bang head

I feel your pain, still sick here. Wife telling me I'm going to the doctor, I'm telling her I'm not going down there to sit for 2 hours to be told I'm doing what I need to do. We'll see who wins. :fencing

Got a cough now... :bang head

You go Ryan! :woohoo: :woohoo: :yipee

The grandson was over this weekend for another marathon building session and we worked on the Defender. All that's left is the decals. Just ran out of time. Dad had called and said he had to come home and do some homework.

Last time we had the sub-assemblies done pretty much and primed.
This time we painted, assembled and touched up the paint work. Tamiya OD airbrushed, Vallejo hand brushed for the rest. All the work on the engine got covered up.

Our next club meeting is Feb 23 and I'll take him with to show. He's rightly proud of it.

I saw on the news that the last Land Rover Defender has rolled off the production line. I'm wondering if it was the end of Land Rover the company?

Great looking model there. Whhat kit is it?

Cheers

Fairly certain it's just the Defender. They still have the Range Rover, Discovery and Evoque models.

Speaking of Evoques...saw one a couple days ago, being followed by a 2nd gen Cayenne GTS...both of those rigs will make me stop and look every time. And I'm one that 99% of the time detests SUVs.

EJ, that is looking fantastic! You grandson did outstanding and has every reason to be proud. I envy you the chance to build with your grandson.

I've had a most frustrating week and a half on the workbench. Two models that need to be painted white are constantly getting messed up. I've had to re-prime and re-paint these two models nine times so far to try and get a smooth, even coat. So far, I'm still unsuccessful.Either dust gets stuck on the paint during or just after spraying; or afterward when I'm getting ready to add a protective clear coat; I find dirt or smudges or filler that didn't quite get covered. I just cannot catch a break.

I also had re-shot green over my two SCUDs so that I can choose one to shoot tan/sand over, and upon inspection; I still don't have a smooth and consistent coat of green. Back to the drawing board again.

I just cannot catch a freakin' break!

Maybe something can be posted soon. Stay tuned for more....... maybe.

Mark try painting a flat white base then gloss coat it. Worked out great for me one something I did...can't remember now. :eek:ldguy

Nice build EJ ... tell your Grandson he's starting to look like a chip off the 'ol block ...

I also feel your pain Mark My RQ-7B will be a show stopper (I Think) when I get finished with Her meanwhile ... Back at the ranch ... :soldier

I've been working on a 1 to 1 project out in the driveway ...

I can't catch a break either ... Just keep on Truckin ... let the chips fall where they do ... :soldier

Mark, flat white is the way to go. Also, get you some 1000 - 2000 grit sandpaper. This way, if you do get some dust after painting, a light sanding will take care of it.

Naw that don't look right atall...is it sheared off?

Don't rightly know ... found bits of Hall effect switch in cam sensor interior. All the metal lump seems solid ... I guess this could be the reason I was getting a cam position sensor Error from check engine light. But I know this should be more like a hall effect switch ... Anyway went to AutoZone and ordered a new one be here tomorrow ... I hope I can get her timed ...

Thanks for the compliments on the Defender everyone.
Tankbuilder - It was the Hobbyboss 1/35 item 82446. Built it out of the box. Had a small PE fret in it. Had a few fit issues, but nothing a styrene cruncher can't fix. The Vallejo model color paints are very nice for him as they dry down flat and NO brushmarks. I'm beginning to like them too.
Now he can't wait to bring it to the club meeting to show it off.

Agreed! Looks ground down to me

Yep ... I took it to one of My neighborhood mechanic because His son heard the squealing noise coming out of the motor when I was at AutoZone. I was going to buy a Idler pulley. He told me to bring it by their garage, and they would fix it for me. Well I left it for 3 Days. They kept starting it at different times to get it to make the noise again, never did, so they didn't fix it. All the time the check engine light it on, the code reporting Cam Position sensor trouble, I have driven it ever day since for about a year, resetting the light, with My PCM reader, I would say that it was right & the neighborhood mechanic. Well He no longer, is my Mechanic, and I don't recommend Him to my friends like I used to do. There should be a little vane that passes between the magnetic switch on top off this assy, that tells the PCM #1 is at TDC, other than that the motor isn't running as efficient as it should be. When you get this error either the magnetic switch has broken off and is being turned into a lump inside the sensor, so I must figure out when #1 is at TDC & put the new piece in the right orientation for timing the motor. This motor has a Coil pack and Ford is getting 255 HP out of this V-6, no wonder she runs so strong. :salute :soldier :ro: :dude'S
