All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

er...yeah, not sure what's happened.

Somehow 400 pages of post have been deleted. I saw an SQL error yesterday but it only lasted a minute. I'll see what I can do but don't hold your breath.

James I"m on the back end and can see the deleted post in Kunena, I'm only going to restore like the last year or so if that's ok with everyone. There's A LOT of messages out there. The process is not so hard but it does consume server resources, not to mention time..my time. So bare with us. :bat

Bob, thanks for that restore, it is most appreciated. I commend you for your excellent work keeping these Forums going.

Gerry, thanks. That loco is looking good so far. Good luck getting all that in there.

As for me, well that Type 60 self propelled Recoilless Rifle vehicle got me started on a modern Japanese vehicle kick. I looked at all the other vehicles I had gotten with that model and decided to get started on all of them.

Here's the three ton heavy truck chassis assembled already:

Right side up:

Upside down:

With that done, I went to work on the chassis for the radar truck. Here it is after I got it done:

Then I started the Missile truck's chassis since they are practically the same:

And just so you don't think I'm showing the same pic a second time, here's the two truck chassis side-by-side:

Next I started the other Japanese Type 10 tank. This one will have the Dozer blade on it. Here's the tracks that got done first:

WIP_Type_10_wDozer_I.jpg

I won't be adding the track pads to this either....

Next I assembled the main hull and added the inside wheels to it:

After that, I naturally moved to the turret and got it assembled:

Here's most of the tank dry-fit together to see how it looks so far:

After all that, I made more progress on the Type 60 SP gun. After I added all the extra pieces to the upper hull, I decided to dry-fit the upper hull to this to see how it looks:

You can see the clear parts that added for the lenses and windows. Those will be interesting to mask.

Next I assembled the recoilless rifles:

One needs to be adjusted, I got that later on...

Then I assembled the whole gun carriage and added that to the dry-fit upper and lower hull. This is how it will look with the guns elevated ready to fire:

Just to satisfy some curiosity, I removed the extra pin to allow the gun carriage to sit down in the travel position. This is how it will look in that position, except that the barrel locks will be in place:

Well, that's all I have for now. Don't know when I'll get to the bench again, but when I do, you'll see it all here!

Meanwhile, thanks for looking in, comments are welcome.

Well Mark after seeing the actual size of these things .... I can see where you like this scale ..... You can get more on the bench at one time .... Man - O - Man ...... :popcorn

T'is true! I also love having such a huge collection that takes up the same amount of space that about 50 1/35th scale models take up. :yipee

Well not on the bench yet but a step closer. I used the center cabanes from 3 kits in my attempt to make one Albatros D.V and now the kit and the spare sprues are no longer available. Today I managed to trade a set of decals for the cabanes so only one kit will be incomplete. The model I made ended up being turfed. So very happy. Have some cool decals coming so have about 5 Albies I want to do. Hope they turn out better than the first. Aufs has given me the desire to try again.

James, weren't the D.V and D.Va almost exactly the same except for some minor changes? Would it be possible to use the D.Va kit with some minor revisions to have some more D.V's? :hmmm

There were some differences, but the problem is I used the center cabanes from 2 otrher kits trying to get the third one to work. So thats one garbage kit and 2 that could only be used for spare parts. Now with the deal I made I get one full kit again and so am only losing the one kit. I've got 3 D.Va's and 2 D.Vs and so am sitting pretty.

Looks like another of Bob's fat finger accidents :rotf

Well, It's possible!!! :rotf :rotf

A little back story Ed, a couple of years ago I was doing some maintenance on the back end and, well, somehow...I deleted like 60 folks...active folks! I did a hell of a job (if I say so myself :geek) getting them reinstated, took some direct database editing but they all were restored and didn't even lose their post count. :beer

I'm glad to Hear there is a competent Man under the Hood ...... I could tell you Horror stories ..... that I went through ..... :eek:ldguy
