All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

Build evening at the club, and we set up the plan for this weekend (big show in Ransart,Belgium)

And i got my Cold steel diorama shot to pieces by our own rivet counter...... :smack

I don't think i had anything done right on it! the colour of the tank was not russian green (It's from the life colour set for russian tanks!)

And the german uniforms was not correct, their equipment was the wrong colour and the tank was facing the wrong way :facepalm

I knew some things he said was wrong but i just let him go on, i think he saw that i wasn't appreciating he's "tips"

I'm sorry to hear that, Mats. I left a club because I couldn't stomach a self appointed "expert". He was such an expert he spent more than five minutes looking for the seam in the turned aluminum barrel of my build. He said he could find the seam if he had his penlight. :rotf :rotf
Best of luck at your show this weekend! (y) :zen

That is why I can't stand those guys. Let me guess his last finished build was completed in about 1995. The way I figure it those guys weren't there so how would they really even know what color stuff really was. I mean russian tanks were being built in tractor factories. It's not like they were all using the same paint from the same batch. I am sure it was all a matter of some guy looking at it and saying looks good enough. Same thing goes for equipment and cloth items. Not every batch of material will be the same color.

Shalom.

Exactly! Look at the wide variations in the colour of the German bread bags in the image someone posted recently. Not only the colour mixed originally affects the colour but so does the weathering, the time of day a photo was taken, the storage of the film and the age of the film when the original exposure is made.

Some of these model club critics and or judges are just a lot too full of themselves.

I now build for the fun of it and don't worry much about what"The Experts" say.

Cheers from Peter

Just finished a 3 hour marathon of talking to parents and handing out report cards :idonno

Now, if the parents would just show up! :bang head

Tomorrow we are off for an escape to NY wine country for some well earned R&R (y)

And, FYI... There is a special spot reserved for the rivet counters in the after life: Gila Bend, AZ w/ both of my ex's. :woohoo:

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

So, as you all know I've been off work (from my regular job) due to my shoulder injury for the last eight months and I'm currently all set to go back to work in March. So what do I get in the mail today... Jury summons... report in the beginning of March!!!

It was -2° this morning and the CEO of our schools decided to close the schools... :zen

So, I guess I'll just chill for the day! :coolio

I've rarely had those kind of guys come up to me anymore. I usually ask them if they were there when the vehicle was painted or uniform was handed out, and if they say they weren't; I ask them, "Then how do you know for sure?" In other cases, I'll ask them where their latest model is so I can see 'how it is supposed to be done correctly'. I did have one guy try to pick one of my models apart and so I asked him to build the same model so I can learn how it is supposed to be done right. He stopped coming to model meetings and contests since I kept asking him "Is it done yet? Can I see it? I want to do mine right." Everyone was thrilled and kept thanking me for getting rid of the guy.

Mike, you should have pulled out a penlight and offered it to him. I would have loved to see the look on his face when he still couldn't find one!

Ge Razor, when it rains it pours eh? :facepalm

As for me, I'm still trying to recover. The Doc said I picked up and infection in my latest allergy attack and the two of them together have been wreaking havoc on me. Now I'm on antibiotics and anti-allergy meds and starting to recover pretty well. I can't wait to get back to work; I should have been done with this job and paid and moved on to the next one already! :bang head

The Russian Green was a standard color...BUT the color wasn't that standard after all,you could find it with a brown, grey and deep green shade in it,don't worry about it to much.

Have fun Mats...and don't paint German uniforms orange with purple polka dots no more. ;) :drinks

Greetings,Ron.

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

Sitting at my desk hoping and praying that nothing broke last night during the freeze! Last three weeks have been 60 plus hours of service and system installations. I logged 1600 miles last week and over a thousand for this week. I want to sleep....
