All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

Ahoy there.

Took the 1/32 scale lindberg PT boat to the local park pond today for a shakedown run to test the new Graupner 400 SPEED 7.2 volts motor I have installed on the center prop shaft. Got two new 7.2 volts 5000 mAhr batteries too. Boat ran pretty good but was caught in a weed bed offshore. Used my telescoping fishing rod with a bottle cork and blunt treble hook (no barbs) to retrieve the boat. Thought the line was going to break. Tok the boat to another pond that doesn't have any weeds. Had a lot bof fun running it until the plastic motor mount melted from the heat of the motor. The motor was too hot to touch when the boat was opened up for access. Again the boat was retrieved using the telescoping fishing rod.

I don't think the motor is supposed to get that hot in 20 to 30 minutes of running. I'm checking on RC groups to see if that's common. The motor is a direct universal dogbone connection to the shaft.

It was really hot and humid here today and that might have added to the heat of the motor.

The boat still needs some work before it's finished. That work in progress is in the In The Navy sub-forum here.

Cheers from Peter

Well for the past two days I have been trying to keep from melting. It has been over 100 degrees here and it just plain sucks. Makes it hard to even want to do anything besides sit in front of a fan 24 hours a day lol.

Welcome to my world Ryan. Knock wood, we've been very mild this summer so far...lots and lots of rain which we needed.

Today, drudging through one more day at work, then off Thurs though next Monday :happydance.

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

Just got back from a quick trip to the flooded town of High River, Alberta where my niece lives. Took some commercial fans and some furniture to her and got to see first hand the devastation that hit this place. It was almost overwhelming to drive by house after house in an entire community with mountains of ruined furniture and building debris on the driveway and streets. My niece is one of the fortunate ones though as two thirds of the town is still under water and the residents are still not allowed to go into their homes. They were also only renting and lost a minimal amount of their belongings in the basement. They will be packing up and moving out as soon as they find a new place.

The pictures don't do it justice

My nieces street

What used to be their basement, their furniture is off to the right.

The green space behind their house

I also got a chance to stop by the booming metropolis of Nanton just down the road and visit with Tim (nsmekanik). Unfortunately the Lancaster museum was closed by the time I got there but Tim was kind enough to show me the way to the local ice cream parlor and we had a good visit. A couple of kits might have disappeared from his stash while I was there. :eek:hmy: ;) :ro:

What a mess! I road through Isle of Palms SC after Hugo blew through, no pictures ever do it justice.

That street looks like many I saw around my home town after Hurricane Rita. Make sure you wear protective gear and clean any cuts and scrapes.

On a lighter note, I've been working on artwork for one of our parks. My first artwork done totally on the computer. Most of the time I scan illustrations in.

Glad to hear it all went well Terry. Wish I could have a new knee. Still too young though.
