Just got back from a quick trip to the flooded town of High River, Alberta where my niece lives. Took some commercial fans and some furniture to her and got to see first hand the devastation that hit this place. It was almost overwhelming to drive by house after house in an entire community with mountains of ruined furniture and building debris on the driveway and streets. My niece is one of the fortunate ones though as two thirds of the town is still under water and the residents are still not allowed to go into their homes. They were also only renting and lost a minimal amount of their belongings in the basement. They will be packing up and moving out as soon as they find a new place.
The pictures don't do it justice

I also got a chance to stop by the booming metropolis of Nanton just down the road and visit with Tim (nsmekanik). Unfortunately the Lancaster museum was closed by the time I got there but Tim was kind enough to show me the way to the local ice cream parlor and we had a good visit. A couple of kits might have disappeared from his stash while I was there.
