Alan - Panzer II Ausf. c

this kit is a lump of plastic but hell of fun to tweak and improvise!

the turret got several coats of putty and several sanding sessions - a coat of primer will show me where to continue filling and sanding!

then i had to cut away the gun mantle and eye measure where to cut the ridiculously oversized plastic barrel to fit the lionmarc barrel, then the small sighting hole for aligning the mg was drilled out, the vision slit in the periscope was drilled and cut in the periscope, the mg barrel was drilled out and the cooling holes were drilled out too - tedious work, not very good visible in the photos but necessary to do!

the lifting hooks didn't fit into the according modled on spaces (surprise, surprise!), the towing shackles didn't fit into the hooks (did i expect anything else?) and the notek light mount is completely wrong - this will be corrected and the notek placed into the correct position ...

all in all i have to wonder how this kit could be released but the nametag 'alan' alone let me be prepared to what was waiting for me and - like stated above - i'm having fun with this kit!

At one time, this kit also had the name Dragon Imperial Series on the box!

Looks like you are having fun.

This just in, The New York Stock Exchange reports a dramatic rise in the price of Squadron Putty stock! Wow, are all the Alan kits that challenging?? :idonno Nice work on an interesting subject! (y)

sat down at the bench for the first time after the last update and repeatedly kept saying "this hobby is fun, this hobby is fun, this hobby is fun!"

i had to replace the turret hooks since i lost one on the hull and to keep uniformity i had to take one from the turret. so far so not good - it was time to attach the turret and i noticed that the hooks on the hull interfere with the turret ... i think it was the first time in my life that i glued on a turret to prevent that those hooks will snap away in future ...

whatever ...

roadwheels ... rhs wheels fit in place without problems, lhs wheels didn't fit, those needed some persuasion ...

fender dryfit ... hahaaaaaaaaaaa ... lhs fender didn't sit flush so i had to mark the hull line and cut away the details ... sits flush now ...

Wow Laura, looks like your friend sent you a headache!

It is strange how it seems each side had a different designer (one side fits the other doesn't)

I will see what I have for hooks, I may have some spares since I do have the TMD hooks the kit parts go unused...

What else could you use? Let me know as I would be glad to help.

Regards,

Wow what patience. It probably would be sitting in the circular file by now if it where me. Keep going Laura, shaping up nicely.
