8 Ton Halftrack and 88 mm gun

I'm really not liking the cab of this thing. There's no real positive location on how the seat bench assembles. As it turned out, there's going to be some scrubbing to get things cleaned up, or there's going to be some tarps thrown about.

Hey, does anyone make a resin tarp to go over the cargo section? I don't know if the ammo bin is setup for the 88 rounds, not finding any pictures of a Flak being towed by this particular halftrack. Most what I see are the early ones with the row seating. Anywho..If I cover the cargo section I don't have to worry about the ammo bins.

Good work so far, Bob. I like what I am seeing. As far as the cargo bins are concerned, those in the kit are for 150mm arty shells.

Joe

That's right Joe, don't think those 150s will fit in that 88 breech. I haven't seen how the ammo bin would be configure for 88s, if it would be different at all?

You can always cut those shells in half and use them as 75's. Wait that won't fit either. I can asked a club member of mine about bins for 88's. He just finished the same build you are doing but with the early 8to. Maybe he has some info on that.

Joe

that's funny...thanks, look forward to hearing what they say. Tell him I'm a friend of Iron Mike, if that has any sway.

lots of detail in the chassis of this thing.

I replaced the plastic lock handles with brass .5mm rod, also sawed off the electrical port cover and put a .8mm pipe in the hole, this is where the electrical service for the trailer will plug in at. put the cover back on top. Not sure how I'm going to do the airbrake feed hose, if the 88 trailer has airbrakes?? Research time.

Does someone have any info about these two parts? I put them in place as suggested but they interfered with the fuel tank. I'm thinking Dragon's instructions are wrong.

MOOONIE,

I think these are part of the Air Brake system. An Air driven piston that pushes th calipers for the Steering brakes on the Sprockets .

Check this out. It's an Awesome Reference & I Highly Recommend it !!

Erik, I figured that was what they were, I just couldn't get them in place like the instructions called for. There in there now, all that fretting and I can't even see them now.

Yeap, that's the canopy I'm looking for

guess I'll be breaking out the tissue and white glue.

Yeah, I think MIG productions made a couple, the sWs & the Opel Blitz :idonno , I'm not sure if either would fit.

 All that work just to get covered up ... At least YOU know it's there !! :D

Great work on the rear connections !! Lookin Great !! (y)

Not really liking how this is going together, trust me, there will be some extra tarps laying around... :pp

Here's the latest update from the other night.

Since then I have the road wheels on and started some shading. I'm about out of dark yellow so likely wills start the three color camo

I'm liking the cable and the cable reel!! Tamiya makes Dark Yellow in the BIG jars, pretty sure Dave has them.

MOONIE,

Lookin Good ! What fit problems are you having ? I had a Hell of a time trying to the the Cab sections to align. I did some fancy maneuvering to get it to set right !!

Suggestion : For Mud try using Liquitex Matte Gel - It's 100% acrylic & you can tint it with Paint & pigments. They also have some different textured gels. Very affordable & available @ Michael"s Craft Store ! It's dries Invisible( aside from the color you put in it) & Super Dead Flat !!

http://ampscv.org/newsletters/AMPSCV_03-2011.pdf - Our chapter newsletter, A friend did a demo with Ceramic Stucco Gel

Liquitex Ceramic Stucco Gel has some really great texture & again . Dries Dead Flat !

- I would give you a link to Their site, but it seems like it's down ??

Just a thought ....

don't whine around - FIGHT!
