2024 IPMS National Convention. Madison Wisconasin.

OK rhino
first pic is 338kb second is 1800kbView attachment 171535View attachment 171536

so file size is not going to effect the appearance on the forum however if you were to download both and enlarge them the larger file size will enlarge better ( before it starts to pixelate).

I you have a windows PC, load the pics from your phone or camera in a desktop folder on the PC
Open Paint. ( a std program on all windows PC;s)
open a picture in paint from the desk top folder and click resize by clicking the arrow below

in the resize box select pixels and click in 1000 as below

then just click file and "save as" top left

Or you can set your camera or phone to do this automatically when it takes a picture.
Try Paint.Net. Free but 100 times more usable than paint with many very nice features. It also has a loyal following with lots of add ons.

Roof top garden and cafe' at the Minona Terrace convention center. I'm working on resizing photos so I can continue to post here. These are an experiment. Food in Madison is expensive! It's also very "fancy". Terms like "aioli" 'compote" and 'vinaigrette" are on almost every menu. The burger here came with "vegan chipotle" on it. 🤮
WTF is vegan about a cheeseburger? When in Madison............

Nice looking spot. I'll be glad to help you figure out the compression thing. Irfanview can do it with a couple of mouse clicks to all the images.

I had this photo in 2 folders. I was resizing one and attempting to attach the other. Gimme a "Duh!"
I think I remember how to do this now. Back when I first joined up, every photo had size limits. Good ol' Mike Trent helped me learn to size my overly grand pictures, way back when. :smack:

Any Tom & Jerry fans in the House? The Eastern front variation on the original "Yankee Doodle Mouse" cartoon. FUN!

I thought this model deserved to be better documented. These guys are GOOD.

This is a painted finish on an actual Nissan Silva 1/25 scale car model. Teresa quickly spied this, and promptly cast her People's Choice ballot for it.

This is my People's Choice pick.
David Laying started working on his 1/48 USS Hornet CV-8 section in 2021, during the panic-demic. The B-25B Mitchell is colonel Jimmy's airplane from the Accurate Miniatures kit. There are 130 sailor and pilot figures, reposed and altered, populating his build. The switchboard activates lights on different decks, so you can see through the ol' girls spaces. There was build-book chronicling David's project. Is it perfect? No. Is any model perfect? Few. This was informative, interesting and educational. The coolest model in both rooms!
It only took him a little over 2 years to get this far! Bravo young David!

During our the time we spent here I thought the Convention was well organized and run. Parking was plentiful, access to the venue was right off Interstate 12-18. The Mad City Modelers members with Jeff Herne in "command" and their army of volunteers did such a fine job!
Lighting was pretty good, the contest room was spacious enough for traffic I was in. Now, that being said, we weren't there on Saturday. I imagine Saturday was a BIG day! Other Wisconasin adventures beckoned.

Raffle tickets must have numbered in the thousands, and were displayed initially in excel on a monitor. Putting them in order would have been simple, but didn't happen. Raffle tickets had to be submitted, rather than just marked off. Teresa commented to Jeff Barrette "We have to talk!"
My sweetie's raffle mojo held true. We won a Squadron gift certificate! Friday, computers for seminars were in short supply, so the raffle reverted to the tried and true white board. This was a first raffle for the team of young MCM members that ran it. They did almost pretty good.

There were escalators. Escalators make me anxious. They didn't actually chew my feet up. There was plentiful seating for old and new friends to relax and compare notes. I can't comment on judging because I didn't enter. I do not consider myself a National Convention caliber model maker.

I could see the IPMS/USA desk was busy. I waited as long as was going wait to to discuss why my email and log-in were eliminated from their website. I've been a national member for many moons, but this new administration has much to learn about who their "customer" is and how to better serve them. I would like to see "Member since (date)" on the membership card pdf we print ourselves. I would also have liked not to have been forgotten. I cain't see my way clear to renewing my IPMS/USA membership.

This may well have been my final National Convention. It was a DOOZIE!

Plastic Surgeon Joachim Lotz fared very well. First prize for his 1/35 Swedish G13 and third prize for his 1/35 Syrian E-75 super king tiger.

In other news, Busy Hands are Happy Hands and a circle of yarn crafters kept busy while the goings-on of their men were, well, going on!
Thanks for looking in!
