First up for me this time is the body paint.

For this I started with Rust-Oleum Aluminum, sanded with 2000 grit, then sprayed Model Master British Green Metallic. WOW.

No polishing yet. That is just the paint. One Coat. Wow. Just Wow.

Next will be to rub it out with some polishing cloths and wait for the polishing kit to show.

On YouTube you can see it here.

Bl**dy h*ll, thats incredible straight from the jar. My first American car was a '66 Mustang, bought it back in 1990 when I was lucky enough to be earning BIG money...

...Really wish I could find Model Master paint here, I got a '69 Olds 442 that will look great in that colour.

Will be watching this one :popcorn . My first car was a 64 1/2 Mustang. Still have her. Just been slowly working on the beastie.

Many thanks for the kindness.

I am making to bones about this. This paint result is all about the paint not the painter. I am extremely impressed with this paint.

I like that green. Like that car too, wish I could have a real one.

I like the green and the car as well. But I want the '68 version. It was the better version to me.

1966 Ford Mustang Hardtop Just a little paint

A little paint. A whole day spent between the two builds.

Not shown is another two rounds of sanding the body with 3200 grit cloth and more future.

Not much, but it is something.

1966 Ford Mustang Hardtop ... Subassemblies

Well after a bit of a lay off here she is again.

A little more paint and a little more done.

The chasis is ready.

The interior is painted and together.

The engine is ready to install.

And the body. Now this is done except for just a small amount of detail painting. I did rub it out and polish it off using the Novus system.

The pictures are a bit dark. Not sure why, I had plenty of light and it looked decent. I am thrilled as this is the best I have had any gloss coat. There are a couple of places that I cannot seem to get the gloss, I think I used too much of the polish. I will remember that the next time.

Next up is to install the bits and pieces and bring it all together. Not much longer folks.

Fantastic body painting :good:

Luiz

Many thanks.

And she is finished.

To recap this is the 1966 Ford Mustang Hardtop. This was an entry in the 2014 Box Stock Community Build on Youtube.

The pictures to be blunt suck. I tried to get a neutral backdrop. I used my light booth and the finish looks dull. It is an illusion.

And just to show there is a gloss on the body.

Many thanks.

I did miss several things but the build did serve its purpose and if I go back to try to redo the things I missed I will mess it up.

Looks pretty dang sharp Joe. Always loved the looks of the First Gen Mustang Coupe. Here is why I love them so much

That was my first car that I ever bought. Still own her as well, but she needs some restoration work.
