1/700 Aircraft. I'm stuck in "Teeny" Gear! Zorn!

20210728_192626.jpg

Tamiya Blue sprayed. The Sea Dart came out nice. The washed and dried Martin JRM-1 Mars wasn't primed or clear-coated. I wanted to find out what would happen if I just painted her.

Thanks for looking in!

Mr. Gay, sir. I hope I did you proud. Modified tail surfaces and Radar tail turret replaced with the powered tail gunner's position.
I little more shaping is needed on the aft hull, but the 1/700 P5M-1 Marlin is getting close! The mold will have to be a 2-part mold. Yuk!

I appreciate your comments and encouragement.

It finally rained here so our new roof and storm door got a good testing. Snug and dry inside our humble rural home!

A diversion from airplanes: There was a time, not so long ago, I spent 5 1/2 hours making an island Tiki Bar. Since Islands vary in size and the numbers of PT Officers and Men that require recreation and entertainment may also increase, I wish to present Tiki Bar II and Tiki Bar III.

Tiki Bar II is the larger one. It will be sited on the generous deck with plenty of space for relaxing and enjoying the company of the fairer sex. (Women!) The smaller hut is a storage to keep Tiki Bar II well stocked. Tiki Bar III is the open air structure that might be patterned after a place I have frequented out on the Big Blue.

These original models were mastered and cast by Hugh Letterly of Loose Cannon Hobbies. I modified all of them, but not enough to truly call them my own intellectual property. I called Mr. Letterly to ask about purchasing the copyright for his Asian Houses and another of his models for an upcoming TLAR project. Hugh generously donated his work to me for sale for profit. We blabbed about molding, casting, ships and friends for 2 1/2 hours. A grand gentleman!

Thanks again for looking in (with your magnifying glass)

Roofs painted green and washed with slightly darker shade of green (which may or may not be the appropriate "Green") I look for festive finishes without blowing my eyeballs out. Not the salmon, aqua, orange and chartreuse of places like the TW&T Liquor store.

Tiki Bar III, "Southern Exposure" is coming along. The medium blue is cheerful without screaming "Drop your bombs here, you Jap Bastiges!!"
The deck got a dark brown wash to bring out the planking detail. The pick-up was a donation from the Sea-Bees to keep "supply levels" optimum.
Thanks again for looking in!

Another deck to set another modified Skywave Quonset hut on. I thought the PT Squadron CO might like a morning porch for drinking his coffee (?!?) on and admiring the sunrise. This Hut isn't going to pass muster for molding. I made another, cleaner hut with an actual door.
Thanks again and again for looking in again and again! :notworthy

The saw blade takes off .015 of the wing float strut. It MUST be restored for scale accuracy.
20220409_100425.jpg
I paired the floats with the appropriate wing, to aid with assembly. The I drilled locating points on the floats and wings to locate the float struts. The 3D printed struts were way too chunky. The next dilemma, How to find a container deep enough to pour the mold for Mrs. Karolus Dad's airplane? The hunt is afoot!

The final vestige of Taco Time in our house. A restaurant beloved, since my much younger childhood in Ames. The Green Sauce is probably only 3 or 4 years old. Still in it's prime!!

This will serve as the mold box for P5M-1 Marlin kit. I hope the RTV will pick up the backwards and upside-down ink to permanently mark the mold for all eternity. A coat of mold release and the mold will be ready to pour. Just because you possess the ability mold and cast an object, doesn't mean the end result will be useable. The first resin castings always tell the tale of success or utter defeat.
Stay tuned, Friends. More micro model madness is sure to come!

Thanks Men!

The castings. Not as crisp as I would have wished for. The 3D texture is still evident. I hope Mark likes his. Now just because my brain won't let me leave anything alone, A waterline hull is also planned.

I have to cast a couple more Marlins so I can mold a waterline hull. The mold is easy to pour, but is a stone-cold nut-buster to free the castings from. :bang head
The "Test Shot" castings are ready for delivery to respected ship modelers for evaluation.
My 1/700 P6M SeaMaster mold will be much more user-friendly!

I appreciate your comments and attention!

If you ever need decals for those kits, shoot me a pm. I can print them, even white.

I need these "Gaffney" decals for my 1/700 Peachoid 2.0 project. They need to be 5/8 of an inch long. 4 decals per "Big Butt-crack". 10 sets of 4?
Howmuchamunnyyouwant?
I couldn't send a PM to you, Kenny.
