Moon Puppy suggested I post some pics from my gallery on the forum, so here are a couple of a recent build. This is a from scratch 1/35th chateau/hotel that I started on January 1st this year. It is basically from my head, I have no reference photos of any type. It is ultimately going into a rather sizeable diorama I am building, ever so slowly.
The core of the building was made using standard 3/16" foam core. The timbers are 1/4" square basswood and the white stucco is sculptamold. Made 3 masters for the windows, put them in rubber and cast the 49 windows from resin. The shingles are made of 0.020" styrene, using Claude Joachim's method explained in his book about the Clervaux castle (talk about exhaustive! the shingles I mean!)
I know there are over 14 6" x 12" sheets of styrene used in the roof alone!
I also hi-jacked Claude's method for the stones on the bottom, making a mold out of clay using small stones, a lego mold box and casting with hydrastone.
Currently working on the patio/mezzanine for the front, will likely be an outdoor restaurant overlooking the river, in the dio.
Hope you enjoy the pics!
Thanks,
Mike R
