The U.S. Coast Guard Defender class, Rescue Boat, Small 25-footer has been a favorite subject for some time. Many was the Carrier, submarine or cruise ship this agile little vessel escorted to and from port in a purposeful, sturdy, proficient fashion since 2002. She is not an RHI (Rigid Hull Inflatable) boat. She is of Loomium construction with a stout foam outer coating on her hull.

USCG Port Security Unit boats come in a variety of configurations. This example is an RHI, powered by 2 225 hp. outboards, like her Defender class cousin. I found 1/700 p/e 13mm guns make passable M240's in this scale. Adding a bit of plastic strip ammo box to the LH side of the guns helps sell it.

Ongoing progress on the 1/350 J/45. The headsail (front sail) is a shade too short, but may suffice for box artwork. She lacks the handrails and powered winch drums of the real thing. As usual, the kit contents are constructed for instructional purposes.
Additional details can be added by the experienced model maker.

There is a new TLAR Blog post for those interested in the goings on of Nautical Oddities Disorder sufferers.

While pondering the M3 base last night I started rambling through my kits kind of taking stock. I came across the 1:700 USS Nevada I bought on some sort of temporary insanity. I'm NEVER going to build that thing.
You think you can find a good home for that thing? Let me know and I'll send it to them.

Done.
Thanks ahead of time, Bob!
