1/35 scale Opel Blitz in-progress

Looking real good! You can tone that bed down with a thin brown wash.

Thanks guys!

Ryan,
Masking is something I try to avoid if at all possible and airbrush most models freehanded.
The airbrush I use is the Iwata Revolution BR and have used it with success from painting mottles on 1/144 scale Me 262's all the way up to my backdrops.

Terry,
I plan to make use of oil paints for adding filters and a pin wash in a few areas. One good thing about these ground vehicles is I don't have to worry about adding too much weathering to them, an aircraft model could easily be overdone.

Thanks again guys! :notworthy

I decided to add some wear and tear to the paint job now before I add the coat of Future, after the Future is on I will start weathering with oil paints and maybe a little more with the airbrush.

Thanks Terry and Moon Puppy!
This is about as far as I will go on the paint chipping stuff, after looking at photographs of heavily used German trucks they did show much paint chipping at all but they sure looked very worn out.

Wonderful work on a an old classic, Les! The differentiation between the wood and metal is a nice touch. Did this kit come with any figures? I can't recall- but the Italieri figs of the day had the oddest faces- zombiesque!!

Thanks again guys!

Chuck,
This kit does have two figures that are meant to be seated inside the truck, they look like rejects from a zombie movie so they are not being used.

BTW, in my previous post I meant to say the German trucks did NOT look like they had much paint chipping on them.
I can't add much text to my posts because it runs off the right side of the page...and can't see what I type.

No pics today, the model parts are getting a coat of Future.

Should be using Firefox for browsing here. May have a solution to this problem in IE shortly. :coolio

Thanks very much Luiz and Tim!

I started with using oil paints to add some weathering to the Opel, here are some shots of the wheel hubs and inside the truck bed.
The bottom of the truck bed and the frame also has been given the oil wash treatment but the exterior of the truck bed has not, that will come later.
The cab has been given some oil washes but is still wet too wet to safely handle so no pictures of it now.

Thanks Mike,
As an aircraft modeler its tough to judge when I have enough weathering on these ground vehicles as I don't want it to look too cartoonish.
