1/35 scale Opel Blitz in-progress

Here are some pics of my latest model which is the 1/35th scale Italeri Opel Blitz.

This is not as good a kit as I expected it to be, for starters the box top photograph of the completed model is printed backwards. :idonno
Also the markings on the box top photograph are not included on the decal sheet.
Other problems are some poorly drawn illustrations in the instructions and the clear parts are undersized.
The windscreen was the worst, it was impossible to glue it onto the cab as the fit was so bad, I ended up gluing some plastic strips on the inside of the cab to give some support for the windscreen.
Super glue was then used to fill any gaps and to give it some strength.

Gluing the cab parts together was a little tricky but I managed to get it together without making too much of a mess.
So far everything else has been easy to assemble after the flash has been removed from the edges of the parts.

Thanks Moon Puppy and Ryan.

Moon Puppy,
This one will get the usual late war three color scheme, I will try and get it to look like a field applied paint job.
The undersurfaces will get plenty of dirt and road grime weathering. :)
Ryan,
By the looks of it this is very likely an older mold kit. Not sure if Tamiya kits the Opel Blitz truck but it would be a better choice than this kit.

Tamiyas Blitz is much better but Italeri have more versions, i think you have done a great job on this one :)

looking good so far,Les!
Really like the lightend up color on some parts of the cargo space.

Don't know if this kit has a interior and/or if you would like to do it, if not buttoned up,
but have some pics for you;

Greetings,Ron.

This is an older boxing, but man your doing nice work. Tamiya does make the lit and it is way better, and Dragon makes a very nice rendition also.

Thanks guys!

Ron,
Thank you for those pictures, I have already closed up the cab on my model so I can't change anything now.
From what I understand about interior colors on the Opel Blitz is they used the same color as the exterior, in the case of my model I painted the interior dark yellow.
For the seat I used a leather brown color to paint it in, and then used some dry brushing in lighter colors to give it a used look.

Thanks Buddho and lupanzer!

A little more work on my Opel truck, the green camo color has been sprayed on the bed and cab, the red/brown color will be sprayed on soon.

The paint job looks poorly done but that is by design, I wanted the paint to look like it was sprayed on in the field so it is rather patchy looking.

Thanks James and bagge!

Its not easy to see but the green is actually in two different shades.

I wanted to represent the difference the way the paint would look on the metal cab and wooden bed, the wooden parts will be getting more weathering than the cab.

Thank you Mike!

The rest of the camouflage has been sprayed on the model, also some drybrushing has been done mostly on the wooden truck bed to add some weathering.

I know the truck bed looks way too light right now but I will be adding an oil wash later on that will slightly darken it and make it match the cab better.

Weathering will be done in two stages, the top will be done first and then will turn my attention to the undersides and lastly the wheels.
