Takom & Das Werk both mold the jack block wood in the same way wrong. It's a pretty easy fix, though.

The wood won't split across the grain, but will split along the grain. The mold has the grain running the same direction as the steel bands. The bands were put around the block to keep it from cracking along the grain. Here is a block of wood I used with my floor jack the other day. Didn't have a piece of 2x4 so I grabbed this which was too thin and split along the grain. If it had some steel bands around it holding it together, it probably wouldn't have split.

A little more work. Got the tools and track cable put together. I also had to modify the kit's hold down clamp bar for the feifel tubes. I wondered if they would've left them on after removing the filters. In the pic of a stuck Tiger that has a good view of the rear deck they clearly left theirs on. The kit's are one piece moldings, but some surgery fixed them right. I've also drilled out and added threaded ends to the barrel cleaning rods.

Very good Tim! These big kits are such that you really need to do the small details to get them right. The 251 just has so many interior parts that all interlock and need airbrush paint work that it is a logistics nightmare to get it all painted right and together. Finally after doing the MMM build and finishing the Maus I gave in and decided to build the large sFH18 Howitzer piece. It isn't a spurious thought, just decided I wanted to build another BIG GUN!

The empty sprues are starting to stack up now.
Got the main gun built. Measures 15 inches in this scale from muzzle to catch basket. I didn't spend any time on sanding seam lines and such on the parts inside the turrent as it will never be seen. I built it up because it was there and it offers a bit of counter balance to the barrel.

I am always astounded that Armor builds seem like they are almost completely assembled before paint.
I guess I do the same thing with my airplanes.

The hull is the only thing glued up. Tools, cables, wheels, sprockets and even the track links are loose.
