    Distractions

Hey folks, I've been distracted lately by my other hobby, making furniture. Here's a coffee table made from our local arbutus (Pacific Madrone to the Americans) and a windsor chair with a Mahogany seat and arms.

    Honourarium

"The David Harper Specific Pacific Memorial Group build " I would be honoured to be a part of such an event.

    1/35 KOSBies

Here are a pair of King's own Scottish Borderers as they fought their retreat across Belgium in 1914. They're ICM figures with sculpted caps. I really like ICM figures and wish they would continue with the interesting subjects like their Franco-Prussians and these WW1 models. They'll be in a...

    Weekend build

This one will probably be even less popular than my Airfix idea. How about a group build that lasts from Friday at 5PM until the following Sunday at midnight? A grand total of 55 hours to finish a model.

    Airfix group build

I like the idea of an Airfix group build because of the huge variety of subjects they model and the coolness of many of their models. Another take on this would be a "vintage" or "retro" group build where the model (or at least the tooling it was molded with) has to be at least 30 years old.

    Flak Tower

I started with the tower today. I made molds from foam-core and poured plaster of paris with some steel wire for structure. It'll be about 7" tall once it's finished to give a feeling of height.

    British street scene

I started building a scene of a British street during WW2. The two women will be walking into a corner pub. The Airfix car was fun to build but I think it's going to take some work to make it look like it's not a toy. It's painted with Humbrol enamel and has a long way to go. The Tilly was a...

    Spad XIII

This is the 1/32 Hobbycraft Spad XIII. It is a nice kit and most of it fits really well. I added a bit of detail to the cockpit (fuel line, seat cushion, seatbelt) and painted it with acrylics and some oil paint for texture and washes. I picked up this 1/16 bust of Eddie Rickenbacker to display...

    Hawker Hurricane

I just finished this 1:48 Classic Airframes Hurricane. It was a really nice kit. I also have the Eduard RAF figures scrambling to the planes for a diorama.

    BOC ME262

Blue Oyster Cult was the first band I saw in concert when I was 14. They have a great song about the ME262 and I`ve always wanted to build one like on their Secret Treaties album cover. This is the 1:48 Pegasus kit. It was $12 at the LHS, no interior so I shaded the canopy like Eric Bloom`s...

    AFV Club Scimitar

This was a fun build. It was also fun to paint a model with no weathering. The decals were the worst :pinch: My Solvaset usually turns decals into a near-liquid and they settle down into every crevice. Several applications to these decals didn't even touch them.

    Bronco A13 tracks for Crusader?

Has anybody tried putting the Bronco individual-link A13 tracks on an Italeri Crusader? Did those tanks use the same tracks in service? Ted

    Otter Armoured Car

I started this a few months ago and just got back to it. I used George Bradford's excellent plans from this website afvnews I built this C15TA a few years ago. It was the first scratchbuilt model I made and one of my first model at all after getting back into the hobby. Here's the second...

    Nieuport 17

Here's an airplane I've been working on for a while. Academy's 1/32 Nieuport 17. I just rigged it tonight with stretched sprue. Now for dullcoat to hide the glue from rigging and some dust and mud. It is marked as Billy Bishop's airplane using Hobbycraft decals. I grew up in Owen Sound, Ontario...

    Staghound

Here's the Italeri Staghound with Resicast accessories. It'll be a Manitoba Dragoons car. I'm having fun with the interior, don't know how far I'll take the detail. I used Armorscale and Collector's Brass barrels. The Bronco kit fit together better and was more fun to build but the Italeri kit...

    37mm ammo for Staghound

Hey folks, I'm building an Italeri Staghound and trying to put some detail into the turret basket. Does anybody sell 1/35 scale 37mm ammo? Ted

    Dutch skating soldier

In honour of Dutch Liberation Day, I started building a 54mm Dutch soldier. Skating season was over by the time the Netherlands was invaded so this represents a soldier in the few years before the war. The Lead Sled packaging has great information on the uniform, kinda like Historex packaging.

    Ted's Panther

Here's my project. It has a die cast upper and lower hull which don't fit together very well. All of the references for the eary G Panther I can find show zimmerit but I don't think I can manage 1/72 zimmerit this month. I may add a chin to the mantlet to represent a late model G without...

    Juno Beach LCA

I'll try building a dio around this scene. It's the North Shore Regiment from New Brunswick in the initial assault on D-Day. The pictures are from a film shot aboard the LCA. There will have to be about 40 converted figures and the LCA will have to be scratchbuilt :silly: .

    120mm British Airbourne

Here's the Dragon 1/16th scale British Airbourne Sergeant. I sculpted the beret with two part putty. I painted the face with oils over acrylic and the rest with Vallejo acrylics. Still lots of work to do, I have to tone down the camo and the brass bits. Overall I'm happy with the figure, the...
