Oshkosh by gosh

At the New York 250 celebration the arrows flew 10 hawks, 9 display and a camera-ship, they flew these 6000 miles + to be there but they dont have the airframe life or spares for a full display now until the aircraft are retired in 2030 ? There is zero news on replacement aircraft so its likely that will be the end of the Arrows. Quietly shoved under the carpet while no one is watching. The whole point of the Arrows was as a recruitment tool, to show British excellence around the world British manufacturing and to use British made aircraft. The company that was going to manufacture and supply British made aircraft went into receivership (went bust) a few weeks ago as it had been waiting for years to get the go ahead from government. looks like if we get anything now it will be the Boeing/Saab Redhawk

That is a shame Paddy, hope the gov get's it stuff together and get the defense industry running again, before it's needed...again.

Looks like my mistake and they were only flying 7 over NY as well. Its confusing because the Italians are flying 9 and they also trail red white Blue smoke.
without being political ;-) the Gov has approved £15 billion increase in expenditure but the armed forces review wanted nearly twice that, they will get more or there will be a public outcry. The problem for us is we are sending so much kit and munitions to Ukraine we cant make it fast enough..
The real major factor is as i touched on a while ago is what direction spending will go. Despite being a founding partner in the F35 prog deliveries are really slow.and i can imagine the first tranch going out of service before the last are delivered. Money is being pumped into the new Tempest with as prototype expected to fly in a couple of years . Problem there is we built the 2 stupid super carriers with only VTOL F35 capacity. We have 6 destroyers on order, some started but now they are being questioned as they will be carrier escorts that will need escorts themselves.

The Russian black sea fleet wiped out by drones .....The Challenger 3 MBT upgrade is costing £5m a tank and will be vulnerable to £10k drones. The navy is ahead of schedule in its remote mine sweepers and the RAF is shortly going to trial the remote wingman project based on you only need one typhoon with ground attack targeting to control a dozen fully armed remote wingmen aircraft.
It sort of makes you understand how technology is overtaking the build schedules.
