1/16 scale Tiger 1 early.

I hate to bust the bubble, but there are big differences between an initial tiger and an early tiger. The kit would require serious work to back date. It would be much easier to convert an African Tiger to a Leningrad tiger than converting this kit.

If you want a fun easier conversion, may I suggest Das Reich’s SO2 at Kursk. Lots of photos of this tank from different angles. The only scratch building would be the rear mud flaps as SO2’s were unique.

Hi Tim, John is correct that this will be a lot of work, however this is most of the info needed if you wish to go down the Tiger 'rabbit hole'.

Ahhh. @Brokeneagle, taking advantage that I am too busy at work to challenge me for the title of TMI (Too Much Information)? Awesome!
:vgood: :good:

Let's not forget this worthwhile site run by someone who actually measured and drew plans of the Tiger: Tiger 1 Info

Well...nuts.
Thanks for the heads up. Just thought the overpainted tactical numbers was interesting, as well as the 502's mammoth insignia.

Thanks so much for all this info Ian! Looking over the kit parts. There are three different versions of the mantlet, two different versions of the engine deck and two different versions of the drivers vertical hull plate. I'm assessing the situation...haha.

The start. So far everything is fitting together very well. On this kit the idler can be adjusted for track slack. Maybe not as big of an issue on the Tiger model, but it would've been a nice feature to have on the Panzer III kit. I modified the sprocket & idlers so I can take them on and off as complete parts during the building process. The kit is not designed for them to do that.
