That book looks interesting. Where did you find it? I need to get some more refs for my Merkava's.

Directly from SabingaMartin. Hard to believe that Desert Eagle is really using strong arm tactics like not allowing dealers to carry their books if they stock SabingaMartin. However, it seems to be true.

So we can expect a report on this paint right? :popcorn

More like progress on the Spitfire!

Got the Tamiya British WW1 Infantry set. This is NOT the Tamiya/ICM set.

h45990bd.jpg

Cheers

Addendum. Opened the box and looked at the figures and gear. WOW! Are the hands in this set ever small! They'd be great if you were using female figures and wanted different hands for them.

The gear is nice though and you get lots of extra items. Examples. You get 4 Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk. III rifles with bayonets and 4 without bayonets. The Tamiya Lewis Gun is superior to the one in the ICM WW 1 British Infantry or the Tamiya clone of that set. That's because the Tamiya Lewis Gun has a separate muzzle with the end hollowed out. The ICM gun is solid at the muzzle and requires drilling it out.

Cheers

Geez I remember when the smaller bottles cost 15 cents. I even had one that cost a dime. Trying to remember what the larger bottles cost when they came out, seem like it was 25 cents or maybe a touch more. :eek:ldguy

I agree. I still have a couple of those small bottles with the 15 cents printed on the lids! Man, I miss those days!

Got my next 2 WNW Aces kits. Immelmann's and Collishaw's birds. Also checking out the Gecko A10 Mk.1A CS. Nice kit. Looks like it will be a fun build. My boys got me two punch sets for Christmas a while back and RP Toolz has just come out with a box for the. Easy to assemble and nice and strong. And finally RP's new cutter. All I can say is Nice!!. Anodized aluminum in red to match the Dspaie tools. It is very solid and very precise. Way better than any other ones I have seen.

Black paints. I'm absolutely terrible at mixing colors. Found an assortment of blacks to go with the previously obtained Tamiya and AK colors I bought. In the end, I guess I'll use the Tamiya.

Made up a color chart of blacks that I have in house. This does not include the standard Testors, Model Master, White Ensign and Vallejo blacks.

Some paint accessories. Gonna try the Alclad clearcoat.

A scalpel and some blades for fine trimming.

vMItFi8.jpg

Fine wire stripper, fine spru cutter and a pad for pinning items to for soldering.

A very nice tiny wood plane. I do wood kits and have always used the old Testors plane, but this thing is a real Cadillac of planes.

And last, an assortment of Lycra rigging line. I've used EZ Line for a few years and like the way it works for small ship kits like 1/700, 1/500 and 1/350. The EZ kinda looks square though and if you twist it at all when installing, it looks a bit odd. Seems to hold up well though. The newer Lycra products are more round, come in more diameters and in white or black (maybe even grey). Gonna give them a go on my fleet oiler build.

Oh gosh.
I build in fits and starts. Most builds I get a hang up about something and put it aside and mess with something else. I've got more kits to build than I'll ever get done, the list is quite long. I always say "I'm done buying kits", but, well, something always comes along. You know the drill.

I'm concentrating on a fleet oiler for a friend that served on USS Mattaponi AO41 in the 60's. Got hung up on the hoses and rigging but want to get this thing done. That's what the black paints and the lycra rigging is all about.

Next, not necessarily in this order are;
1/12 scale wood "Lightning" sailboat, partly done. Took it on as a commission build, 50% down, 50% on completion, but the guy has never paid me a penny yet. Told him I wouldn't work on it anymore until he paid me the money and I haven't heard from him in months. I 'll probably just finish it just to get it off my bench. I'll never do another commission job.

An "Egg" ESSEX aircraft carrier started for a monthly contest at the club, but never finished.

1/350 Tamiya Missouri, #78018 2005 edition, sent to me by a friend in Australia. Been collecting aftermarket stuff for the build. Building it as 1944. Got the hull cleaned up and ready to assemble, now set aside.

A 1/32 Guillows wood kit of a DC-3. I flew out from home on one when I joined the Navy in 1960.

A 1957, 1/540 scale, vintage Revell kit of USS ESSEX with the angled deck. I built this kit when I was 16, never knowing at the time I would serve on that very ship. My son's found an unopened vintage kit, and bought it for me for Christmas a few years back. I've collected PE, aircraft appropriate for her as a CVS, corrected Island, Hangar deck + hull widening correction set, decals. Now, with 3D printing, it's getting easier to get stuff in those "box scale" sizes. This was MY SHIP, so I want this one done right. :captain

A 1/16 scale, wood, Model Airways Wright Flier. (No, I'm not that old to have flown in one, maybe close). Just an interesting kit.

1/35 LCM-3 with a cargo of a Jeep ambulance, stuff, Dodge truck ambulance and crew.

plus, about 18 aircraft and misc kits, 28 plastic ship kits (some vintage) and 8 wood ship kits. :skipper

I had some build logs on some of these, but lost all the picks with the PB fiasco. Also, some of the logs were in a defunct forum I followed (Hippy Ed was in that forum as well). Here, I have re-built one or two threads with new pics using IMJUR, and as I get back to the various builds my intent is to re-post the picks in each one of them.
If I could build on average, 1 kit every 6 months, I will be 108 years old. :D

That is so cool EJ, and sounds like my workbench too. I wonder what that other defunct Forum was where you and Hippy hung out. Still, seeing all these great projects going on, I'm motivated by you to keep going on mine. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
