Why I like Vallejo paint

There was a problem with Model Air Colors while you are painting with airbrush, thinner medium was not good enough. The milky thinner (70.524 or 73.524 serial).

I use New formula Vallejo Airbrush Thinner and highly recommend it! no. 71.361. :ro: Also can be mixed with Model color and used as a Model Air ;)

All the best!
Dusan.

I got one of the small bottles of the Vallejo thinners and wondered what it was suppose to think. Looked more like milk.

I'll check out the Airbrush thinner (y)

I went to my local Hobby Lobby yesterday and low and behold, they have started carrying Vallejo paint. Guess I should pick some up.

A brand new Hobby Lobby store opened up very close to my office (and the apartment I'm moving into next weekend) and I was amazed to see a rack of Vallejo in the model section. I didnt think to check the prices, I wish I had, but it was very cool to see them there.

Try to decide if you like the Model Air best for their paint brushing qualities or the Model Color line for thinning and airbrushing.
The thing is that the Model Air are decent to brush and in my opinion very good to airbrush. Problem is that Model Color are excellent for figure painting and very good for most other brush painting, but they can be a bit troublesome to get the right consistency for airbrushing.
I ended up buying both series, about 350 bottles I think, and it costed more than I like to think about....
So, pick a couple of each and try first, and then make the decision.
Another problem is that there are differences in the sortiment between the lines as well, so some of the colors that I use in Model Air hasn't got a counterpart in the Model Color line.
And to mess it up even more, there's another couple of series, the Panzer Colors and Game Colors.....

Paddy, modelzone in Croydon has a large display of Vallejo

Hmmmh, strange. Send then an email and ask if there's something wrong, or if they intend to stop selling Vallejo.
I have bought from other UK companies as well. Usually trough eBay.

Yea, I think thats about the same number of colors I remember seeing as well. Im going to assume this is probably a company wide thing then. I'm pretty sure that individual stores dont do stuff like this. I'll have to check the store near where I'm living now, to see if they've started carrying the paints.

Yeah, I didn't look at prices either. It wasn't a HUGE selection. Maybe about 30 different colors but better than nothing.

Nothing at the Manufacturers page. http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/
And nothing in the product page http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/model-paints/division/3

The pdf charts are great for figuring out what paints you wabt and also have a FS to Vallejo conversion. The blog is also handy and some well know personages have commented there. I have emailed them a few times in the past and suggested colours and given mixes and they have been very quick to respond. Actually when I did a review here there was a question and I went to them and got it answered. Very happy with them.
