Who here makes decals?

Gene

Member
Guys -N- Gals,
Does anyone here make decals? I need some for a WWII Jeep, that I want to make into a US Navy vehicle. TIA!!!

It's not that hard with the right printer. Problem you run into is printing White or anything very light in colors.

What scale are you looking for Gene, there may be aftermarket stuff out there already.

I dont think anyone makes decaqls, or at least none I can find. My suggestion would be Letraset

And try to find the right type and size. Maybe a Staples store or office store would be good to ask. It is dry transfer and you can make your own marking. For a black star, try Archer, or even write to Archer and see if they can make you something. Sorry not much help.

Black can be the easiest. I've done in on a laser printer before. Clear decal paper, get the type face and size right, print it out and a layer of the decal film on top and you're golden.

Now, if you have the LASER decal paper, a Laser printer and the right font. You're set to go.

Until the VERY expensive toner on my color laser printer ran out, I had success creating my dry transfers with this product:

Of course, using laser decal paper in both clear and white would be easiest. This is where I buy mine due to great service and very high quality (they also have inkjet paper):

We have one of those Xerox Phaser printers. you know solid ink printers. It's in need of some maintenance and no one wants to spend $400.00 on the maintenance kit when they can get a color laser for the same price.. they just don't understand...I have not read how they do for any decal work though.

James,
Thanks for the info!!:) Since I have no printer at the moment, I'll have to see what I can come up with.

Hey Gene! Archer is an excellent suggestion, I love their products!! They are located here in NC too!!

Have fun!!

Gene,

I got your PM but did state publicly that I am out of toner. The laser printer's toner is over $600USD for the set so this purchase will not happen until the new year.

Here is another mask company I can recommend for custom masks and one can pick up the Gator's Grip Hobby Glue at the same time.
Gator's Masks and More

Other masks I have used are from Eduard, Trakz, Black Magic, Fast Frames, and Montex Masks (lots of armor in the last line too).

Regards,
