Hey everyone!
I was digging through my model stash the other day and it occured to me I had several quite old and hard to find kits. So here is a thread to show off that old beast that is in your stash on the back shelf in hiding.
I have several kits that fit here and so to start it off here is the one that I beleive is my oldest:
Yup, an old Aurora kit with the taped corner box and the cover is wrapped with the printed paper. Copywrite is 1956 though it is posibly a little newer. The original wrapping plastic is still in the box with a price tag of 79 cents. All the plastic is good and complete though the decals are too yellow. Not bad for 58 years old.
Here is the next one:
An old HAWK kit with a copywrite date of 1961. Flourecent orange plastic in great shape and complete. Yellow decals of course but the box is a solid one with the tape type corners. A little yellowing on the outer white, but again not bad for a 53 year old.
This next one has a little significance to me, I "barely" remember my dad bringing one of these kits home and putting it together when I was 3 or 4. I remembered the box art and the white plastic model as well as the black decals. Seems like the landing gear went awy very quickly as well as the propellor blades. BUT, I DO REMEMBER IT!! :woohoo:
This kit while it still had the original box art and copywrite date of 1959 was a later issue as it was a fold up box probably issued late 60's as it has the Apollo lander for a dime offer in it still. Otherwise it is just as I remember it.
This last kit is my pride and joy. Was hugely lucky find. :frantic
This was another kit that I remember my dad bringing home. He built the roadster and painted all the bodywork on it a light metallic green. Had it for a long time but as a kid with a OCD mom whos deadly dustcloth destroyed many a model, it went away years ago. I did get to build the model T part of the kit. Built it as the stock T.
This particular kit was found with most of the parts rattling around off the trees and the 2 slicks for the Hot Rod T assembled with the wheels. I recently did an inventory and surprisingly everything was there! The Hot Rod car parts were all in good shape. The T parts were mostly good though there were some slight damaged bits from the vinyle tires setting aganst them. Nothing that can't be easily fixed with a touch of filler and a sanding stick.
Everything is now all packed safely ing ziplock bags so no lost or damaged parts should occur.
