What is the oldest kit you have?

Have that Lysander too Paul. First time I ever knew of that plane was off the front of one of my Mom's old high school text books. There were 3 Lysander sihlouetes with the winglets doing a bomb run. I thought they relly looked interesting. It was quite a number of years later that Ifound out what the planes were.

My Eldest Model kit, is an aged Hawk Model Co. Ryan FR-1 Fireball. Back in the '50's, this was a big deal to get plastic parts with your wood to shape airframe.

Followed, not too closely, by a Renwal USS Seminole APA, and Aurora's Bristol F2.B, and XB-70 Valkyrie.

Yuppers Bob. Looks like a solido job before they started making the plasticky kits. My dad and his brother built the balsa and tissue flying models.

My dad built a Waco biplave and Beech Staggerwing when I was little, and a Peashooter when my brother was little. They were built from scratch using some old plans he had from his younger years. Then hung them up out of reach for years. About a year before he passed away he gave them to a couple of boys that lived down the street. As old and brittle as they were they probably didn't last the day. :(

I have a 1959 model I have had for 22 years now. 1/1 scale woman. Does that count?

Had a '58 model and it was very defective, got rid of it! (y) (y)

Later on found a quality '51 model but then completely broke down unexpectedly a couple of years after acquisition.

No more models of that type for me. They are money pits that cause nothing but greif! :bang head :bang head :vmad

JA! That's what a 1950's "Smart kit" was. The Hobby has come nearly as far in 70 years, as Aviation has in the same length of time. I'm amazed!

Interesting kits Mark! Have never heard of those 2 before. (y)

The Airfix Kit is long out of production and is considered one of their rarest Kits. The Empress of Australia was only sold onboard the real Vessel when she was in service during the 60's......Cheers Mark

Thanks for sharing those kits with us Mark! It's always interesting to see the special odd ones that no one ever gets to see.
