I have been practicing using acetone to smooth out thin putty! it works good although it is etching the plastic a little the stuff im using is not the finger nail kind could i be  using the wrong stuff?

hey Dave, a word of warning about the acetone and plastic melt.... Back when I was doing models as a kid I found a filler concoction that was made up of acetone in a small glass jar with chips of plastic sprue mixed into it and boy did that stuff really melt the plastic bits into a soft goo. It makes a nice filler that is made of the same stuff the model is made of so yeah, the acetone will have some effect on the material if not used sparingly. my 2c
