Texas Midland Tank Car On30 - Almost Done

I'm really getting into this Railroading Thing ... I'm a Al-Scaler ... But lately I've discovered On30
There is a old road bed that runs by My House ... It borders the West side of my Property ... It peaked my Curiosity some time ago ... So I asked my Brother which railroad was it ??? ... He replied the Southern Pacific RR ... Which it turned out to be, technically ... the road's name was the Texas & New Orleans or the T & NO RR ... Hard to find the models for this route ... So here is what I want to model, a tank Car ...

( still looking for original photo )

This is a undecorated Bachmann On30 Old tyme tank car ... that I disassembled to paint like a Texas midland Tank car ...

I painted the tank engine black ... the original photo shows it as a shiny black car ... fresh shopped

I weathered the deck of the car ....

Tried to make tank supports to look like wood ... more work needed on these

I think I added some weathering powders here can't tell this was late last night ...

C&C welcome ... I'll find that photo of original car soon ...

Thanks Luiz ... Do you remember the Food Truck I was working on ??? I took it to the Railroad club layout ... and it was liked by all Even though still only half finished ...

Thanks Christian & Jeff ... as you know the narrow gauge equipment wasn't kept in pristine condition ... only fixed when stuff fell off ... :rotf ... your narrow gauge lines were usually poorly maintained ... the trouble with the Texas Midland RR was that it was owned by the riches most miserly woman in the world ... not sure if there was even any narrow gauge on the route but On30 is a bit of fantasy model railroading mixed with the real stuff ... and I could make this car in HO easy enough ... Just having Fun ... Thanks once again ...

Looks like I'll have to loop off that filler tube ... and add some more wood on bottom & front of tank ... then once I get that I'll need 3 more just like this as three were 4 on the Pike ...

Ok let me try to s'plain it Lucy, The model has a pipe coming off the dome on top, the photo of the real thing doesn't, also no hand rails or ladder on tank the car doesn't have stirrups either. If I make this like the one in the photo I will have to completely rebuild the model. So without further adieu.

I removed ladders, handrail & tank straps

Took my trusty dremel tp the hand rail tabs

And I removed the filler tube on the side of the dome

I sanded the tank sides & ends smooth

Then I added the 1st piece of timber that will hold the tank, and now the commander has hit the sack and requesting lights out so, off the bunker

I like that. Very cool

I'm very glad you Like it :train Lots to do yet. Too many builds to do, but that's why we model. Thanks, I've been trying to get my video uploaded, so y'all can see the train show, I just attended. But now I have a Bob Wills Fiddle Festival this weekend, there should be a car show also.

Simple way to do wood grain ... drag your model saw backwards at about a 45 degree angle to make the wood grain effect
