Ha !! - Not what you thought, right !! :yipee

Not sure how this will 'fly', so here goes; I posted this yesterday on the "what are you doing today" thread:
...So I was spraying some 'home-brewed' blue on my '68 Dart for the 'Hot Rod II' campaign and had a fair amount left over, so I dragged-out my Tamiya '98 Cobra and sprayed that too...

... :bang head... D*mn !! - that was the one I was going to build for the 'Wild Mustangs' campaign. Now because of my excitement it's (pre)started and illegible for entry. But what's this living in the same storage box ??, Ooohh a Revell '65 Stepside, hey that would look good in the 'Keep on Truckin' campaign.

No wait, that isn't going ahead (yet)... :facepalm ... D*mn !!

Ahh well, the home-brewed blue looks really good. Think I'll build the stepside anyway.

Ian

Bob's response was:
"If that's all you've done, it should be OK"

So just to keep things straight, here's the point I've managed to reach:

Basically it's the metallic mid-blue that I mixed-up for the '68 Dart, that I've sprayed here as a prep-coat for a deeper metallic blue that will come later. If folks are happy that this is indeed all that I've done, then I'll post an 'official' start-up photo in the usual way and take it from there.

So, over to you guys.

Run for the hills, it's back.... and it's ALIVE :frantic

Decided on a whim this evening to drag this back to the bench. Changed the basecoat, because I just wasn't happy with the blue I sprayed last year. The top colour is still going to be a deep metallic blue, it's just that now, it will sit on this dark silver/gunmetal tone.

Stay tuned.

Ian.

Dust under the paint by the filler-cap. That'll be polished-out with Micro-Mesh once the paint is cured. Good catch, Bob.

Ian.

That silver dried with wall-to-wall 'orange peel' effect, so I stripped it (again) back to the plastic, took a deep breath and shot a coat of Tamiya enamel satin black. When it dried, I polished it as usual then gave it a coat of Humbrol 222 from the Metal-Cote (sic) range, again I polished it back with 4K Micro-Mesh and this morning shot another coat.

Have to say this is, at last, coming together very nicely. Love this deep metallic blue tone.

Ian.

Nice. I'll be watching this. I have a '94 Cobra (not an R :( ) in real life. I also have a Revell Super Stallion kit that is based off the same SN95 chassis. :coolio

Then I've been having bad, bad thoughts about doing a kitbash w/ one of my '65 GT350 kits. Somehow ended up w/ 2 of them...so why the hell not. :hmmm

That is one fantastic looking Mustang. I can't wait to see the finished product on both the '68 Dart and this Mustang.

Dave

Ok I'm caught up, but since it was you Ian I new this would be a Ford Pony, At least they put the logo back to a full gallop :popcorn
