Tamiya 1/16 IJN Pilot - Finished!

Hey I have something for this thanks to SA Dave - cheers Dave! :drinks

In my excitement I had put the figure together before remembering that I hadn't taken a photo with a date, but as I guess this is about the painting I didn't think it would matter.

To me the face doesn't really look Japanese - more like Robert Downey Jr. - I'm very tempted to draw on the Tony Stark beard...

That's better I may just leave it like that :yipee

I don't think I have ever seen you do a figure, that didn't have rockets coming out of their hands. Great start! :popcorn

Many thanks to SA Dave again for the kit, I may get another in the range Tamiya do - I did enjoy this after all.

Sure as hell could have fooled me Dave about not being a figure modeler, but then everything you touch turns to gold.
:notworthy

WOW thats nice. Awesome work (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)

Question though, what were the pens for?? Do you use them in painting?
James

Thanks chaps! James - the pens were used for all the "pre shading" and skin tones, was an experiment I've been meaning to try for a while.

OK Bob I guessed I asked for that :cheer: Look again at these two pics -

The shadows were done with the Faber Castell artist Pitt pens - I can't really say why I used them but something about using pen rather than a brush for figures seemed a bit more natural to me for the detail areas. I then sprayed a light coat of red brown for the leather and sand for the flesh over this. I did apply more pen to the face and then a dark brown water colour wash to the whole thing after giving the figure a coat of Future.
