Amazing photos.

I just started reading Max Hasting's Retribution yesterday.

One stat that stood out: in the beginning of '43 the US had 4 carriers. By the end of '44, over 100.

Hey Mike,

My dad spent the entire war in the army infantry in the South Pacific, all over the place. He was wounded in Leyte The Phillippines, but saw action in Bougainville, the second battle of Guadacanal, New Guinea, the Solomons and others.

Seeing those photos of the SoDak made me realize that Gramps was on that vessel when they were photographed. That generation sure was made of strong stuff. :notworthy
