Snow in the South

The woods are lovely, dark and deep…….Well, it is snowing in South Carolina! That is old hat to many, but here, it is rare enough that when it does occur, it is a major event. In this case, schools closed BEFORE the snow even began to fall! I took my little Eazsyshare camera out and took some pics - enjoy!

No snow is complete without a snowman:

And here is how my cat views it:

1-3 inches are predicted to fall by tomorrow morning, so “Snowmaggeddon” has finally come to the south! Well…maybe tomorrow I get some modeling in? Y’all enjoy the pics, and stay warm!

Hi Bruce.

Those are some nice pics. It looks so peaceful like that.

Especially since I don't have to shovel any of it ;). And don't think of it as how many inches, think of it as how many marguritas :drink . .

Hey Bruce! Yep, it's snowing here in beautiful downtown Shelby, again! Folks here are getting a little tired of it, can you tell?

Enjoy! See you at this month's meeting? It's Thursday, Feb 18.

yep left work and the roads were fine. Had good enough buildup on the windshield that I made a snowball. Stopped to get the traditional milk and bread. came back out and the roads were freezin' up. So by the time I got home I counted to redneck pickup trucks in the ditches, one upside down, no one hurt. Doesn't take much for the rebel cry to go out, "Hey Y'all, Watch This!" (I have it on good authority that Edmund Ruffin said the very thing before firing on Fort Sumter)

 WHO ?????

I thought it always snowed in the US :blink ?

Edmund Ruffin, it's a southern thing...He was reported (questionably) to have been the person who pulled the lanyard on the first shot on Fort Sumter. At least he claimed it.
A loud crash is generally heard after "Hey Y'all, watch this!"

Yes it always snows in the U.S. Not always in South Carolina. Especially around the Piedmont area where Bruce and I are. This snow is heaviest I've seen in years but it's not as cold this time. For us it's usually only a dusting once a year, if that much.

So here's my pictures.

The Dogs have been having a ball. Looks like it's more than the 2 inches they called for.

Nah,

most of the more southern states can sometimes enjoy warm, summer like weather while those of us up north are shoveling away. This year has been a bit of an odd one, in fact I believe it is the first year in a long time where 49 of the 50 states has snow.

Dallas Texas got hit with a decent dusting (I think it was like 7 inches but that's a dusting for a New Englander) a day or two ago but stuff like that is fairly rare. My parents own a home in Florida where they go for the winter months to avoid the snow, it's been pretty chilly down there this year but they're not skating on the ponds or anything. ;)

edit: I see Moonpup and I were simultaneously posting. He gets one of those a year if he's 'lucky' we usually get our first one of those in November and keep getting it until February/March.

Don't begrudge me for my winters, I spent 3 years in North Dakota. Having to climb out of the second floor window to get out of the barracks and to the chow hall, I think I paid my dues.

And all 50 States has snow right now, you forget Hawaii always has snow on some mountain peaks.

LOL

don't begrudge me for eating what they call up here BBQ chicken pizza. ;)

The 49 out of 50 thing was something I had just heard on the news, either the volcanoes don't currently have any snow on the peaks or my weather man is an idiot. :woohoo:

I can't help it if y'all call it by the wrong name.

I did read last night that Hawaii doesn't have snow, they are trying to see if the 49 has ever been snow covered before.

Such strange things that need to be done in the snow though, While in North Dakota I got use to the idea of plugging in your car so the engine wouldn't crack. But now I have to go sweep off my Dish antenna to watch TV? Glad it only happens once in a while.

HAHA!

Oh the inconvenience. B) I've had to shovel 10" off the roof of an addition in order for my guys to shingle it before, luckily it was only a four pitch.

Still kinda scary though. :blink

I love the sight but just hate winter. 75 here today B) , although we just had two weeks of cold rain. :blink

Jenny I live in the Mojave desert, where the total annual rainfall is not quite 4 inches. It did however, snow 6 to 8 inches here last winter. Apparently because of that it didn't rain for the next 10 months. Total rainfall to date 5 inches.

I'm about 3000 ft above sea level at my house, quite a bit above the valley floor. All the rain played havoc with the casinos. :blink
