Red Sonja, She Devil With A Sword. From Conan's world and the land of Hyrkania. 3D printed by me on Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16K. Great printer BTW. The STL files are from VX Labs. I believe the person who sculpted it is named Megha. I painted Sonja mostly in acrylics with some oil paint details. I used a wash technique for the skin. After basing the skin tones, painting as if to leave it finished but a little lighter, I sealed the surface with a matte resin finish. I then used a wash of clear blue and sponged it off with water. Next was clear yellow and sponge with water. I then used clear red and sponged it off using alcohol so that the three colors mixed. I sealed that then used a dry brush technique for highlights, with a final very light glaze of burnt sienna. The cape was prepared with several coats of stippled Vallejo putty mixed with matte varnish to give a sort of velvet texture, followed by very thin washes of Pthalo Green, followed by washes of raw umber and black oil paints in the shadow areas. For the pooling blood under the head I dripped Alizarin Crimson from a dropper so it pooled naturally. For the monster skin I used the same colors as the cloak but didn't use the texture. The red hair is (what felt like) dozens of layers that I can't remember, but used bronze metallic paint near the end mixed the bright red. I brushed a metallic gold powder here and there for highlights then fixed with matte varnish.
She is not perfect by any stretch with broken pieces of hair on her head and furs. The head did not fit very well so to cover the gap at the neck I used some small chain I had for model ships to make a necklace with a running horse logo from a Ford Mustang PE set I had lying around. I am pleased enough with the outcome. She is a cool character and one of my favorite comics to read.
